'15 GA WR Preston Williams (UT Signee 2/4/15)

Yes I agree. However, if you have the mental capacity to and just screw around because you think school is stupid, then I have no pity for you at all for being illiterate.

Alot of illiteracy comes because teachers dont want to take time with the kids once the realization that they are slow learners. So they move some people into classes were they don't even teach them.I have friends that can take a car apart and rebuild it but cannot read or write.I was behind my class in reading in second and third grade but i had a teacher that helped me and by time i was in seventh grade i had passed my class.I played football, basketball and baseball and didn't apply myself but still graduated fourth in class of one hundred and eleven. And i got a 34 on the act,but i had a teacher that pushed me cause our families had ties but not all kids get the help. When i went to LMU the star of the basketball team could not read, and on his act he got his name right but that was it.Harlen County Ky highschool done him no favors he was good enough that he could have started at UK or UT or anywhere.

If you're illiterate it's not your teachers fault.

Go ahead and say it... That's mom and dads fault. Mom and dad are not around ok fine that's granparents fault, aunt, uncle, who ever is raising you if you can't read that is there fault. Now sentence structure that's my fault for not listening in school.

It's both the parent and the students fault. Anyone without a serious learning disorder who puts in the effort will learn to read.

Darrell Scott.

And I'd give Chris Knight an honorable mention.

Scott for me too, but I'm always partial to the writers version.

Knights, for sure. Also like Patty Loveless', I think because she's from the area, it has a authentic feel to it.

EDIT: Also, check out Blue Highway's "Bleeding for a Little Piece of Mind" with Scott leading vocals on song he wrote. F'N awesome song.

Sorry guys, back to Preston's ACT watch....

Which version? And agree love it! Darrell Scott is one of the best songwriters out there (Jason Isbell probably being the best IMO)

HUGE Jason Isbell fan and have been for years. If he's in driving distance I go see him play. It's funny to me that he's still largely undiscovered.

I don't know about largely undiscovered at this point. He'll never be on country radio simply because of his style of music but his new record has lived on the top of the charts since it came out.

Did you just say jason isbell... Your my new best friend. Been a fan since the trucker days. Seen him about 8 times, great song writer, and awesome shows

Wow! Blue Highway reference. One of my all time favorites, though I can't recall that song.

Don't blame poor education on teachers. This is an issue that starts in the home. Educating our children is the job of the parent.
