Von Pearson Update

The DA didn't say he didn't do it. He said "there's insufficient evidence to prosecute". Which might mean the young lady was presented with a deal and decided not to push forward with a criminal trial. I suspect you'll see civil proceedings though, which will probably be settled out of court.

You literally have no idea what youre talking about. Presented with a deal? What deal was that? The one where the rape kit came back with no DNA from Von at all? So no contact between them and she was "presented a deal" and still have legs to stand on a civil proceeding? Good thing we don't have you taking the ACT again for Preston Williams.

Are they not presuming guilt first by banning a student from academics based on a claim that hasn't been proven substantial at this point? Banning him because someone doesn't feel safe without proof of stalking or an actual crime being committed would be ridiculous and I don't believe the university would open itself up with a decision like that. Now if they have tangible proof then thats different.

It appears that an accusation is enough these days. Now they did verify that he was at a party and admitted to some kind of misbehavior so that could have played a significant role in the decision. Like KBVOL said earlier there is more to it.

The case is closed and he is back with the team. I hope that closes this thread.

The fact that hubbs has stated that his status will be addressed in 24-48 hours points toward this.

Very unlikely they do anything but clear him that quickly. They would simply stall if the news was bad IMO

First, let's assume that Butch knows the exact story.
That Pearson has been completely honest with him.
Let's say that one of the following happening:
VP either intentionally or jokinly exposed pkg to her.
VP said some non-threatening, yet, inappropriate things to her.
VP made her uncomfortable by hugging or touching her in a way that was unwelcome.

Now, let's say that Butch (and possibly Hart) think he deserves internal punishment. (e.g. Missing some games).

Why couldn't and shouldn't Hart and Cheek go to the Dean of Student Affairs and/or Pres.Dipietro and plead Butch/Von's case that Pearson be reinstated to the University?

I fail to see where addressing Von's status automatically translates to being back on the team.

It doesn't but TOS is citing sources within the program that are saying his status will be known in 24-48 hours...and that was said yesterday.

FWIW in another thread Skeeter said Von should be on the field practicing on Saturday.

Fingers crossed! I really hope you're right. I just refuse to be optimistic until we receive confirmation.

Guys, this has been perhaps one of the more classic Volnation threads of all time. Your information (whether legitimate or not) has been entertaining and enlightening to say the least:hi: Now enough of the sappy stuff, it's time to get #9 back in between the lines!!! :banghead2:

Amen Brother. :good!:

There was a guy claiming to be an attorney that called into Swain's show earlier that was saying that the only reason Von Pearson hadn't been reinstated was because the board of education had given notice to schools that in the event of an accusation like this, if the victim claims that he/she feels unsafe, then the accused must be removed from campus regardless of whether it was based in fact or whether the claim that he/she felt unsafe was legitimate. That's why Michael Williams was allowed to stay, because this rule was not in place at the time and the fact that it is now the new SOP is why Von is still out.

It was an interesting call at least. I have no idea if he was legit or if he was FOS but that would at least make a little sense out of what is keeping him out on the UT side.

It is legit. Schools have obligations to provide safe environments to all students and it is a tough standard for an accused person to overcome.

Yep. Just got to ask the Male Student at Columbia University. His life got ruined by a vindictive female.

Just the stripper. She made the rape accusation and the University automatically took her side before all the facts came out and then once they did, the University got shamed and the Locrosse Team finally got some justice but the coach lost his job and those boys lost a lot.

So the University needs to hurry up and remove her off campus so Von will be safe again..

Another way to spin it! :)
