Or she looked pissed, and he decided to play the button pushing game. When you listen to her response, she sounds pissed; but she never raised her voice or used any profanity. All she did was explain why she felt like the stop was BS. There was nothing rude in her response considering the situation.

If he was genuinely concerned, as your statement implies, he could have easily explained that the ticket was nothing more than a warning then let her sign it and they both would have been on their way. Instead, he responds with "you done?", which comes across as just another attempt to push her buttons.

At this point, the only thing left to do to complete the stop is for him to hand her the ticket to sign so they both can go on there way. 15 more seconds and this is over with. Instead, he tells her to put her cigarette out. He just couldn't stop trying to push buttons.

He is the antagonist throughout the entire situation.

******* exactly. This cop is clearly ******* with her to get a reaction. Just listen to the inflection in his voice when he asks her to put out the cigarette. He knows that's his moment to get her to disobey him, and he uses it as his justification for asking her to step out of the car. Low life scum.

Save your dime store diagnosis for someone else. And you don't get it.. Do you stand in front of a mirror at night with a drink in your hand and ponder on just how wonderful and intelligent you are? I bet you do..😂

I know I sure do. But by the time I'm drunk enough to be that ego maniacal, my inner thoughts Are basically just gibberish. So it's more of a stand there admiring the intelligent gleam in my eye, even though in reality my pupils are saucered out and I'm cross eyed.

You must have incredible hearing because I couldn't hear anything she said for the first couple of minutes, when he was on the passenger side of the car.

And when he ordered her out of the car, she unlawfully refused. It was an arrestable offense right there.

Yes, she pushed his buttons, and yes he could have just given her the ticket and moved on. Yes, you can make an argument he was unprofessional.

No, he did not break the law or her rights. Yes, she did break the law, several times.

How can you read my post and come to the conclusion that I'm talking about anything that was said during the portion on the passenger side?

You said she was not rude and he was the antagonist throughout the incident. I don't think that is accurate based on what we can hear, and I know we can't hear everything, anyway.

This is "trending" and, whether anyone on this board believes it, the fact is there will be a lot of people who do, so this could get worse.

The fact that the writer thinks you can only hang yourself from something higher than you destroys his credibility. We've had cases where they tie a towel to the post of a bed on the floor and just slide down until it cuts off blood supply.

You have partially discredited 20% of the points mentioned. I'll give you an "incomplete" for this semester.

It's really sad how many people will give someone an exemption for being a scumbag based simply on the fact that his actions weren't illegal.

I was responding to questions about the legality of the arrest, so that was why I focused on that.

Incidentally, I see my comments earlier today about suicide screening and watches on inmates via accreditation standards are now becoming the focus of some of the media attention.

There is a big difference between saying corrections deputies murdered her versus a lawsuit claiming that she committed suicide and you are at fault for failing to check on her periodically per your own policy.

I suspect that is where this is headed.

You're right, initially she did not use profanity or raise her voice. I did think she had attitude when communicating but...that's not a crime.

I agree with you about the "Are you done" response. He definitely should not have said that. If you cannot handle people talking to you like that you have no business being a cop. That's why while I see both her and the cop playing a part in this, more blame is with the cop because he's the authority figure and should be able to control himself.

Also, as petty as the offense was for her being pulled over it was still valid and he did give her a lawful order to get out of the car which she refused. People may disagree but I think her response when asked to put out the cigarette was the catalyst in this incident. It wasn't so much that she refused but the tone and way she did. Whether folks agree with the law or not, he could have lawfully asked her to get out of the car any time he wanted to.

Like I said, I see blame on both parties involved but more so on the cop since he's the one who is supposed to be in control of the situation.

I find it odd that many people do not seem to think she played any part in this and did absolutely nothing wrong. While the cop holds larger blame in my opinion, she definitely holds some too.

From my perspective, She did two things wrong. Changed lanes without signaling and refused to get out of the car when ordered. Anything the cop says happened after that about her resisting or kicking, to me, is completely discredited because the cop has been caught lying his ass off about this encounter. I don't trust one word he says about what transpired off camera.

Did she raise her voice? Did she use profanity? Did make any comment derogatory towards the officer or police in general? What comments heard in video prior to the point he asked her to put out her cigarette would you consider rude?

You acknowledging that she broke two laws is more than some on here are willing to do. I can see the argument that she tried to assault him too based on him making a dodging motion when trying to get her out of the car.

As for what happened on the sidewalk...I can't see so I can't make a judgement.

still scratching my head wondering how people jumped from rude to murder

Her tone was what one would expect from someone being pulled over for something like this.

Her initial response to his question was had a bit of attitude. (This is your job. I'm waiting on you?). He then stated that she seemed upset. Her response to this seemed to be a calm explanation of why she was upset. Nothing insulting or derogatory towards the officer. Just an explanation of why she thought the traffic stop was unnecessary. As you stated, the stop was petty but valid. She appeared to feel the same way, and was complying to everything asked of her.

Where we seem to disagree is what was the point of escalation. You say it was her tone when refusing to put out her cigarette. I say it was him asking her to put it out.

Only thing left to do is sign the ticket. Why would he ask her to put out her cigarette at the END of the traffic stop other than to try to get a reaction?

30 marks on her wrists which are two weeks to one month old...

Family says no way she committed suicide.

I've never made any statements about him being a murderer.

If I had to guess, I'd say she killed herself. I can understand the family wanting an investigation, but I'd be shocked if it was anything other than suicide.

My issues are strictly related to the traffic stop.
