Von Pearson Update

So basically if you're a football player at UT you should just use your hand for 4 years, otherwise you run the risk of losing your entire career over some vagina that might accuse you of something.

If you feel any sorrow whatsoever over the plight of a scholarship football player, then you are a fool.

Memphis and Knoxville have both been written up as having a large backlog of unprocessed rape kits. Maybe this is the issue.

I thought he just flashed the goods. There shouldn't have been a "kit" to process if that's correct?

If it was inappropriate package presentation, the penalty will, of course, not be the same as sexual assault.
But, I don't think anyone in the media or on a message board knows exactly what happened.
Hopefully, news will come out soon.

Stunning to think that had it happened in today's climate Peyton Manning would most likely get kicked off the team and possibly out of school for his so called sexual assault back in 1996.

Joe Mixon knocks a woman out cold breaking multiple facial bones, gets arrested for it. Yet hes still playing football at OU. People in Norman made sure the video did not go public. In Knoxville, VP is accused and it drags out for months with no charges, no arrest, no resolution and no answers either way. What a joke.

You're assuming guilt with your response however

Does anyone else find it funny when Coug lectures someone for "assuming guilt"? Here is a guy whose every post in these threads is based around insinuating that women who say they were sexually assaulted must be liars.

I wish I were a lawyer and lived in East Tennessee.

Surely there is at least on Law School Graduate from the University of Tennessee who sees the injustice in this situation, and has the nads to do something about it. It is against the spirit and specific wording of the state and federal constitutions to allow Von Pearson to slowly twist in the wind like this.

If it's not a constitutional matter, fundamental fairness dictates that the young man be allowed to get on with his life knowing whether he will be charged with a crime or not. The damn Knoxville police may not like it, but they MUST be made to put up or shut up. The same goes for the District Attorney's office. Charge the kid so he can go to trial and prove his innocence, or cut him loose. They should NOT be allowed to HANG A DARK CLOUD OVER HIS HEAD INDEFINITELY. PLEASE...WILL A LAWYER STEP UP!!!!!!

I'm sitting right here.

At no point did I say all women claiming sexual assault are liars. When I stated that VolNExile was speaking from the perspective of VP being guilty it was merely an observation with regard to his specific comment. For the record though my real frustrations don't lie with VolNExile or any other posters in this thread they lie with the extremely slow process of this case or the sheer lack thereof. Whether it's a Title 9 issue, or the Knox County Judicial system, or an alleged backup in a lab somewhere it's beyond ridiculous. There is no valid reason or excuse for the ineptness of it all. It's pathetic.

Not terribly sure how this became my perspective. I said I wasn't claiming any knowledge of his situation, and I wasn't. I was referring to your melodramatic (IMO) portrayal of poor football players forced to remain in their rooms rather than doing what most halfway-optimistic college students hope might happen to them.

I'm sure that VP can have whatever passes for a normal relationship with a GF, just as most other guys can.

Sorry you read it the wrong way. :hi:

fwiw, I haven't seen much of anything indicating that he assaulted anyone. But I'm not overwhelmed by the competence of KPD or the local DA's office, so who knows.

First, all the lawyers know that nothing is wrong with the way the process is playing out. If you were a lawyer you would know that what is going on is completely proper, heck I can't even think of a straight faced argument to make that supports your position.

There is absolutely nothing preventing him from getting on with his life. Butch Jones is the only one who is doing anything to keep him from playing football, and Butch can change that any time he wants.

No one may never hear another word about this situation. KPD and the DA do not have any obligation to any citizen to announce when they are not bringing charges, in fact the assumption is that if they don't announce that they are bringing charges then they aren't.

Of course there is this little thing hanging over the school called Title IX investigation.

BTW both attending UT and playing football are privileges, not rights, and to be able to exercise those privileges you have to follow the rules set down by (in this case) both the school and the football program.

It was what you posted in your original comment.

I didn't read anything wrong really, you just came at me all defensive and offended it seemed.

textbook strawman (look it up).

I never said that you said "all women claiming sexual assault are liars," so protesting your innocence of such is pointless and silly.

You do spend a crazy amount of time in these threads insinuating that women who make claims against UT football players are liars.

So basically if you're a football player at UT you should just use your hand for 4 years, otherwise you run the risk of losing your entire career over some vagina that might accuse you of something.

..and then you whine about other people making assumptions.

So, you've never--in your painfully obvious limited life experience--encountered a DA's office announcing that it wouldn't prosecute a case?

What an idiot.
