Von Pearson Update

Clipped from just 10 minutes ago.

Roster.png

Maybe I haven't been paying attention in years past but this is the first time I've seen every player number from 1 to 10 worn by an offensive player and a defensive player...anyone else seen this before?

I've seen a number here and there duplicated but nothing like this...:whistling:

Idk, but it makes it easier to read and remember player numbers imo.

VP has remained on the roster the whole time. He is still on the team he is indefinitely suspended pending the outcome. Butch did say he is not currently enrolled in classes which means even if resolved today he couldn't start working out with the team until fall practice. I'm not sure if the scholarship doesn't cover the classes while suspended or if it's another reason that he isn't enrolled.

If you couldn't work out with the team, would you want to take extra classes?

Yeah. He'll probably have to take a much heavier course load if he can return in the fall. I don't know all the rules about eligibility but part of the reason they all take summer classes is to pad the number of credit hours so they can take less classes during the season. It's either extra classes now or extra classes later.

The right to a speedy trial only comes in to play once charges are brought. Unfortunately, they can affect someone's life forever by keeping them as a focus of an investigation. I understand wanting to be thorough or appear thorough, but by taking this long to make any decisions, KPD looks incompetent. Either there is or isn't evidence. And move on. . .

Exactly. On the surface is seems anything but a complicated case. Identify and interview only a handful of people who could've been witnesses. Collect any forensic evidence that exists. After 4 months, there either is or is not evidence to charge the guy. They do appear either spiteful or incompetent at this point.

This will get resolved by the KPD around December when the season is over and VP will move on to the NFL draft. His days at UT I believe are over.

With the length both the Pearson situation and the Johnson cases have taken it would appear on the surface some one /department has issues with the football/athletic department.

You think these things would take this long to play out in Gainesville, B'ham, Athens with the players in limbo?

Forget the player for a minute. The alleged victim should have some resolution by now if there truly is a case.

sad to say it this way, but in this day and age, with all the coverage there's been of violence against women, there's really no choice in having the investigation go thru its process.

there's too much consequence for the accused, the investigators and the accuser for that not to happen.

the reality is it goes both ways...KB you say "especially if the evidence says what she claimed is false", i'd also say "especially if the evidence says what she claimed is TRUE".

cause if it is true, there's more important things at stake than our WR position issues. if it's false, then this girl has ruined a guy's reputation and taken time away from him that he'll never get back.

neither side can afford to be wrong. the fallout either way will be bad for those involved.

SpringBok said likely some resolution late this week or sometime next week. Looking forward to hearing that announcement. It's been just under two and a half months. For complex processes like Title IX, a police investigation, and the interaction of those two, that's actually not so long. Let's see what happens in the next week or so.

Question... will VP be in shape and ready to go after being out so long? If he comes back that is.

I have zero insider info. However, by his Twitter posts he's excited for the season.. And he's very aware of what it takes to be a WR in the sec. I'd say he's been working out independently.

I'm in the same boat as you info wise but I think you might be right. He was able to come from a JUCO strength and conditioning program and look the part right away. I think he'll be ok physically. But if he ends up missing camp it's going to be tough mentally
