'15 GA WR Preston Williams (UT Signee 2/4/15)

That's what I thought, thx..... I hope he can play a little DT, we need the depth for sure

I think moving him to full time DE was the craziest decision the staff made this spring DE is loaded. He's third string SDE at best maybe 4th. I think Phillips takes all his reps by mid season. I hoped this guy could get to 280 or so and shoot gaps.

They'll be ok. Not spectacular, but deeper, stronger, and more experienced. If they are incrementally better... Just in line with normal progression and expectations, we'll have a very solid season.

I hope so. We have the horses to be really good. We need the tackles to step up. I know Dobbs' athleticism brings a lot to the table and the sacks will be less for that reason alone, but I'd rather Dobbs not be running for his life though. I think Brett Kendrick is gonna be a good one this year.

He was filling in at DE at the end of last year and doing well. If we actually blow out a few of our opponents this season, they're not going to keep Maggitt/Barnett out there. Butcher most likely redshirts and Mixon will get plenty of snaps mixing with Lewis and the true freshmen. The coaches probably thought this out a little bit...part of their job. :)

the only thing I didn't agree with on the positions is stacking the freshmen up. Khalil and Shy in the same spot, seems like you want some experience in there. same thing with the ends Phillips and Taylor on the same with Vereen and Lewis on the other? that reads SR JR JR and SO FR FR. mix it up.

Yes plus we will be in nickel the majority of the time with only 2 linebackers (Reeves-Maybin and Bates) so that will help.

Maggitt/Lewis/Vereen
DOB/Williams/Mixon
Mckenzie/Tuttle/Vickers
Barnett/Phillips/Taylor

JRM/McDowell/Berry
Kirkland/Bynum/Bryant
Bates/Weatherd/Sapp

Sutton/Foreman
Berry/Mcneil
Randolph/Kelly
Martin/Moseley
Gaulden/Abernathy

That's my prediction at the depth chart by mid season

I really hope Vereen can earn some PT. He seems to have a very good work ethic and attitude

Remember when Corey Vereen was our most exciting DLineman?

Stacked.

Other than the fact that the AJ's replacement at Mike is not yet solidly proven for 2015, put a list like this up against Bleacher Report's recent article on College Football's Surprise Teams for the upcoming season and it reveals that the writer at BR is smoking crack:

6. Tennessee
The Volunteers are one of two programs in the SEC (along with Arkansas) who are a popular offseason pick to make big strides in 2015. The play of quarterback Josh Dobbs in the second half of the season last year is a primary reason for the optimism, and the biggest reason UT was able to scramble into the bowl field last year. Plenty of questions remain on defense, but Butch Jones could find himself in late-season position for the SEC East title in what should be a wide-open division.

Until I see some proof of it on the field (not in a scrimmage against a walk-on), I just don't get the perceived "talent" of Malone. If our entire WR corps is healthy, I'm not even sure he is in the 2-deep.

North/Pig/Von
Smith/Croom/PWill

I think PWill is going to take his PT. The fact that Malone was a 5-star on Rivals and Williams wasn't is hilarious to me.

LOL.
Smith will not start over Pig.

If all are healthy & available, our starters are:

North
Howard
Pearson

Malone was worthy... The high end talent is there

Yeah everyone says that, but that's the part I don't see. Not particularly fast, not physical, not much wiggle, doesn't go up and get it, and drops a lot of routine balls. Just seems like an average SEC talent at wide receiver. I think North, Pearson, and PWill are all three clearly more physically talented.
