I agree. I think the relationship between white and black has made progress, specifically in the last 50 years. I think situations like this doesnt help. If we can get back to substance it will continue to improve.
I dont believe it will ever completely go away but it can be better.

Never understood the "white guilt" thing. No one is saying white people should feel guilty for something they played no role in. Why should acknowledging that the things that were done in the past were wrong and should not be celebrated make someone feel guilty?

Because doing wrong is what's at question? What percentage of confederate soldiers that died under that flag were actual slave holders? Did the poor southerners that NEVER reaped the benefits of slavery, to be held accountable for what only the wealthy and elite prospered from? The vast majority of confederate soldiers were fighting AND dying for what they heard at the general store. That part of history can't be wiped away.

The "new history" that all southerners were slave beating racists is just wrong! 98% of southerners owned zero slaves.

Let's start by telling history right and THEN we may come to agreement...
