Riley Ferguson appears to be gone

He is playing for a community college in Kansas and Texas, Arkansas, and Florida have him on their radars after this year.

Sometimes it takes a while for the light to come on and grow up. I hope he succeeds but I hope it's at Texas or Arkansas State and not at Florida.

Riley recently spoke about his departure from UT. He is going to community college and already has offer from Arkansas State and interest from Florida, Arkansas among others. The kid has talent no doubt. If he does well at Community College and becomes a hot JUCO prospect, which is expected, how would UT fan base feel if we go after him again ?

Before you start bashing me, it is just an off-season question to kill time.

I would be okay with us going after him. Kid no doubt has talent and seems like (based on his interview) he has got his head straight after a year out. Kids 18-19 make such decisions all the time.

I wouldn't mind, but doubt Riley would come back. If he didn't like the competition when it was Worley-Peterman-Dobbs, he's gonna hate it when it's Dobbs (senior) - Dormady-Jones-Jennings (maybe) - Guarantano.

Think chances are very low we see him in orange in the future.

I guess it would depend on the QB situation at the time. Right now we have Dobbs for two years with Dormady, Jennings, and Jones waiting in the wings. We also have Guarantano committed. I'm sure at least one of these guys will emerge to replace Dobbs when he leaves, and I doubt Ferguson would want to come in as a backup, seeing as that's why he left in the first place.

This.

He couldnt stand the heat from what we had before, now with JG coming and Dormady looking sharp in the spring, he wanted the job handed to him he doesnt like to earn the job on the field, no way would i wont him back, i know it not War but would you wont him in the fox hole with you. I forgot about Jones, he needs to go to a Division 2 school where he will get to feel like King Riley, like the high school days.

3 true freshmen QBs will provide depth. Jarrett Gurantano is a top 50 guy by the time it's all said and done. Then in 2017 we are in very good position for one of most complete QBs in the nation in Hunter Johnson (future 5* if not already). In 2018 the 6'5 kid from GA Trevor Lawrence has legit interest in us. He's one of the best QBs in the 2018 class will be a top 100 kid.

Don't think SEC ball is really for Ferguson. He had his chance. I think it's more likely that he just fade into oblivion at a D2 program. It's a common fate for 2nd or 3rd string QBs who transfer away from major D1 schools after their 1st season. Often times the transfer stems from an issue of character or talent or a combination of both.

He's going JUCO then to Florida.

We will be winning by in the 4th qr, hurt FL's starting QB, and they will bring in Riley to win the game.

They might bring RF in but King Tut & KMAC says there will be no win for RF.

By saying this is just an off season question to kill time proves you already know how ludicrous the entire proposition is. Riley Ferguson will never be the QB at Tennessee. There are better ways to kill time like sleeping, drinking watching some Legends Football League (better then womens beach volleyball) imo.

I think when Butch says he's done at the university of Tennessee, that means he is done at the university of Tennessee. I see 0% chance he returns in ANY capacity.

How many times has a kid requested a transfer from a school, gone to JUCO, then re-signed with the same school?

No way Burch goes after him after he left. I have no doubt he is more mature now but this simply will not happen.

Besides, he is supposed to go to Florida so we can have a Dobbs vs Ferguson game in Neyland in 2016.

No way. He quit on UT once...he won't get a chance to do it again. This stands a -100% chance of happening.
