Cheating Under Rick Barnes

Do some of you guys even know what the story is? I'm not sure why he'd be laughing, even if Barnes was in trouble (he's not), Tyndall isn't coaching D1 anytime soon.

Yep...this is nothing more than a yahoo investigations type of story and nothing at all will come of it. The NCAA is NOT investigating!!!

Do not feed the trolls, and if you do anyway, try not to get your panties in a wad over them. This is a non-story other than to rile people up to get clicks along with the writer's attempt to make a name for himself during a summer lull. Junk food for sugarholics.

The NCAA does hold head coaches responsible for what they should not be held responsible for in their usual convoluted way of doing things. However, Texas has institutional control over their academic processes, unlike UNC that did not and in fact, set up a system to skirt the rules over decades. All CRB had to do is what he did to steer clear of academic related violations. Take a breath people. I am not a Hart backer at all, but he did nothing wrong in hiring CRB. He got lucky and as a result so did we as Vol fans.

The author of the article said that there was not a connection to Barnes as did Texas. Where is all of this drama coming from?

Manufactured. Even 102.5 FM in Nashville it adding to it; on their Facebook they said Barnes is being investigated, and that's not even close to the truth.

He was a noted Steve Prohm advocate...but Buzz mainly wanted someone from a mid-major that could coach "for the next 15 years". Didn't want to hear that it was feasible with Barnes...because after 10 he's 70, and you immediately die then. :)

I thought you died at 65. Now i have five more years to look forward too. :)

Now professional troll Clay Travis is jumping on the bandwagon:

"Tennessee refused to rehire Bruce Pearl because of his NCAA issues and instead has hired two straight basketball coaches with NCAA issues."

This faux outrage is laughable.

How did Clay Travis manage to generate enough credibility to not only host his own show, but maintain it this long?

His perception of reality and rumor-mongering is akin to SD's.

Not sure, but at some point he decided to be a professional troll and it has paid off handsomely. At least with him I know he know he's usually doing things just to get reactions.

Although he was supposed to be back on the air in Nashville by now and I've heard nothing about that in ages. He even was a guest on 3HL a week or so ago.

3 of my biggest pet peeves all rolled up and packaged nicely here.

1. Clay Travis
2. Click bait
3. Faux outrage

I'm exhausted of all three. I just wish there was a way to block click bait and faux outrage as I have done with Clay Travis.

What I hate most is how there so many window lickers that latch on to what he says and this story in general. I don't know how much clearer it can be when the school in question has said Barnes wasn't involved, yet here comes Travis and others like him stating now that Barnes has "NCAA issues".

No he doesn't; even ignoring what Texas has very publicly stated about Barnes, the allegations themselves are just now being looked at; nothing at all has been proven.

Compare this to the USM situation and CDT. Night and freakin' day.

I'm sure his previous employer got him with a noncompete clause in his contract that he thought he would be smart enough to get out of, but wasn't. You can tell because he never wants to go into detail about it and usually deflects it with a "more on this coming soon"...this is a guy whose very nature is that he goes into detail about everything.

@BDavisAAS: Per Texas statement, former men's basketball coach Rick Barnes did not know "or was involved in any academic improprieties."

He had no idea

Neither did this guy :peace2::whistling:

I am beginning to think that the people who are reading in to this story that Barnes is is deep trouble are Lady Vol fans who want to stick it to Dave Hart. There may be reasons to go after Hart but this story contains no evidence that Hart or Barnes screwed up.

I saw this on Facebook. The KNS story was posted in a non-sports group and 10 rough looking ladies' comments were first to post and it seemed to be a script about Hart. I've been on they're side of the Lady Vols logo controversy, but I'm going to go to the other side of that issue if they continue bashing any men's sport.

poor SD u just know he was following this thread with baited breath.. And he smartly stayed out of it. One would asdsume he maybe actually read the article.

The moment I saw"He used a cell phone to take a picture to text someone questions" I knew there was no way in the world this was going anywhere. Who even allows cell phones during exams? Also, i wanna know who was on the other end.

Good points

This seems like a bunch of BS about nothing to me . I don't think anything comes of this at all
