Uniform/Helmet/Shoe design thread (merged)

Great. They've taken away the good looking stripes on the pants and given us those horrid Kentucky checks on the sleeves. (Said as a joke but not without fear).

If the dual stripes on the pants are gone, we should start a petition to bing them back! Just like we did to bring back Bruce!

What? UT has gorgeous helmets. It doesnt take fanship to realize that.

Dude last year I went to a game with some buddies from college and I was SUPER messed up and had a drunken conversation with some 60 year old lady about this for literally 45 minutes. Our helmets, while simple by today's standards are classic.

I wouldn't be opposed to 1 alt helmet/year a la Notre Dame, but our helmet is an icon.

I might me in the minority about 1 aspect, though. I liked the skinny stripe we had during the Ainge years better than the fat stripe we have now, and have classically had.

When did you graduate UT? I feel about like you do. I wouldn't mind an alternate uni for 1 game but the others I like Orange jerseys/ white pants at home and White on white on the road.

I graduated in '94. I'm not "that" old. :)

I technically "graduated" from UT after fall semester 2013.

I played college golf at Holy Cross for 4 years from fall 2008 to spring 2011, didn't graduate, moved home and worked for my dad while finishing up at UT.

But yeah, I'm 25.

I'm a bit younger than you and to me I like primarily the orange and white at home and the stormtropper look, but I also like 1 game of all orange a year and at least 1 road game with white jerseys/orange pants.

I like the orange pants but I agree they should be used sparingly. I don't mind an alternate but I don't like the idea of special uniforms for bowl games and whenever we get to the playoffs. For those I want our classic look on the big stages.

They're white with an orange T. I agree that it's iconic and it looks good when paired with the rest of the uniform but if we're being completely honest here, on its own our helmets are nothing earth-shattering.

Then again I've never been a huge fan of helmets that simply have the schools initial or script on the side. I've always felt that was lazy and unimaginative. I'm much more appreciative of teams who's helmets have cool/unique logos.

If that's the criteria. Only helmet that are earth shattering are Oregon's. But there are some ugly ones. Like florida and ole miss . those are fugly

I have an issue with this statement. While I respect your opinion, anyone, anywhere in the country can turn on a ball game on any given Saturday, see our helmets, and know right away that Tennessee is playing. What more would you want?

I agree; certain schools you turn on, you know it's them. I don't mind the idea of an orange helmet but I want it to basically be an inverse of what we have now.

The Power T not cool?? Unique??

Lose the grey in the stripe and you've got a winner! I'd LOVE to see Tennessee go to an orange facemask!

I like that, lose the grey in the stripe and the the black/grey hardware and I would have no issue with this helmet at all. It's the first helmet that incorporates the checker that I have liked.

Same could be said for that Tennessee Orange jersey. That is the reason I do not like alternate uniforms. We have something that no other team has.

How's Gordie Lockbaum doing these days ?

:puke5:

Just my 2 :two cents: but the checkerboard should be left only in the end zones and off ALL uniforms.
Absolutely!!! Checkerboards simply exemplify the checkered flag in racing ( I know there is some link to a checkerboard pattern on an old building there, but it still indicates the "finish line/flag" in racing) and is horrid looking on the uniforms.

I don't want anything. Look I'm not suggesting that we need to change our iconic look. The person said "we have the best looking helmet in all of college football" and I simply disagree with that statement. There are other helmets in college football that I can objectively look at and say they are better looking/more creative than ours. However that doesn't mean I want us to change. We may not have the best looking helmet but we DO have the right looking helmet if you get what I'm saying, though I still think an orange face mask would look great!

Honestly Maryland has the most Unique football helmets. But i personally like the Miami helmets.

I don't even care if you mess with the middle stripe on the helmet and/or the facemask....but the Power T being the logo is non-negotiable to me.

White, black, smokey gray, orange, whatever...the Power T stays.
