What? UT has gorgeous helmets. It doesnt take fanship to realize that.
Dude last year I went to a game with some buddies from college and I was SUPER messed up and had a drunken conversation with some 60 year old lady about this for literally 45 minutes. Our helmets, while simple by today's standards are classic.
I wouldn't be opposed to 1 alt helmet/year a la Notre Dame, but our helmet is an icon.
I might me in the minority about 1 aspect, though. I liked the skinny stripe we had during the Ainge years better than the fat stripe we have now, and have classically had.

When did you graduate UT? I feel about like you do. I wouldn't mind an alternate uni for 1 game but the others I like Orange jerseys/ white pants at home and White on white on the road.
I graduated in '94. I'm not "that" old.![]()

They're white with an orange T. I agree that it's iconic and it looks good when paired with the rest of the uniform but if we're being completely honest here, on its own our helmets are nothing earth-shattering.

Then again I've never been a huge fan of helmets that simply have the schools initial or script on the side. I've always felt that was lazy and unimaginative. I'm much more appreciative of teams who's helmets have cool/unique logos.
I have an issue with this statement. While I respect your opinion, anyone, anywhere in the country can turn on a ball game on any given Saturday, see our helmets, and know right away that Tennessee is playing. What more would you want?

Absolutely!!! Checkerboards simply exemplify the checkered flag in racing ( I know there is some link to a checkerboard pattern on an old building there, but it still indicates the "finish line/flag" in racing) and is horrid looking on the uniforms.uke5:
Just my 2 :two cents: but the checkerboard should be left only in the end zones and off ALL uniforms.
