Cavani doesn't belong in the category of best players...he's good but been totally overshadowed by Ibra. Idk if Bale belongs there either, he's been so underwhelming at Real. Everyone else I can agree with. I forgot Aguero and Hazard also.

Yaya, Lewandowksi, Muller, Schwensteiger (sp?)

I'm saying Ronaldo isn't the exception. There are plenty of good, tall players.

Well I agree with you there. But he was saying the best players are usually under 6'0. I would say, and I assume most would say, Ronaldo and Messi are the 2 best in the world. Just out of curiosity, who would you have in your top 5?

I couldn't rank them outside of Messi/Ronaldo, but Neymar, Neuer, Muller, Suarez, Ibra, Robben, etc.

Something involving them. There are plenty of tall, elite players though. Best in the world is pretty objective. I'm not saying the majority aren't under 6'0, just that Ronaldo is far from the exception.

I'd agree with that...might plug in Aguero and Hazard in there somewhere, but for the most part I agree.

Only reason I say Ronaldo is an exception is because he is in the same conversation as Messi for being th best in the world. I agree there are plenty of elite players over 6'0, but I don't think they're on the same level as him. Jmo

To be fair, Messi and Ronaldo are in a tier all by themselves. So one is "tall" and one is not, haha.

I was in pain from a football injury in my 20's. I had been told I would probably need a new hip and by 40 would have a hard time walking and stuff. Almost 50 now and have had no pain or replacement now about 25 years later after God healed my hip. Prayers works but sometimes the answer we do want we don't get. Have to accept it and move on.

So then prayer doesn't work? God is going to do what he wants regardless, so what's the point? Glad you are no longer in pain, though.

Can we just stop this conversation. We get it. Some people believe in prayer, and some people think it's silly. No reason to demean or belittle one person's belief in it or against it, nor is there any point in trying to argue its effectiveness. Those who don't believe can't prove its ineffectiveness to believers anymore than those who believe can prove its effectiveness to nonbelievers. It's an exercise in futility.

This isn't the forum for that discussion in the first place. For the record, I'm a believer and an ordained deacon, but I realize that a person isn't going to believe in the power of prayer until they have experienced it in their own life. For me to make an attempt to convince a nonbeliever through lifeless text on a message board is fruitless.

As it pertains to Devante Brooks, let the believers pray for him if they want without ridicule. It certainly isn't hurting him, nor is it hurting anyone else.

Predicting the unpredictable and robbing a patient of hope is an unpardonable physician sin imo.

Prayers are where we ask for in my example healing. Should never be for material things. However, prayer always works but sometimes you may think they did not work due to the answer to the prayer not being what you expect. If you don't have faith which it appears you do not at this point, then you are correct in your prayers probably will not work. Hope that changes at some point for you. But, you are free to believe what you wish.

Deacon Jones, you are correct but points should be made on either side of this without ridicule of the believer and non believer. Sharing can perhaps make a difference if done correctly thru Christ. All I will say at this point because I did not read your quote before I posted my last one. I get mad if you trash my Jackets but just sad when others don't know Him. Peace dudes.

When someone's prayer is for healing and you think God will answer your prayer right up until he doesn't and you die, I tend to think that they dont work for everyone. I'll bow out as this is not the right place for this discussion. I'll leave with saying that I believe in the existence of God but I dont believe he is active in this world as far as answering any prayers. Sorry for the thread derailment.

Isaiah 55:8-9
"8 For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways, declares the LORD.
9 For as the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts."

Sometimes, God's answer to our prayers is no. It doesn't mean because he said no, that he is no longer active in this world. As the scripture says, his ways and thoughts are higher than ours. You just have to trust in Him. I lost my uncle when I was 9...he was only 29. Never understood why God would take someone so young, but it's not for me to decide. His ways and thoughts are much higher than mine. I know my prayers are left in the best hands possible, and I know He will do hat is in His will. Do you think it was fair His only Son came to this earth to live a perfect life, yet die a cruel death on the cross, so what we can have a hope of eternal life? Absolutely not, but He did it, and God even said no to his own Son who prayed, "if it be possible, let this cup pass from me." This was speaking of his coming crucifixion. I will stop after this as well, so the thread is no longer derailed.

"Of course it is happening inside your head, Harry, but why on earth should that mean that it is not real?" - Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.

We're quoting books about magic, right?

Sorry, I couldn't resist with the silliness of people quoting the bible as if that proves something...

The bible is the most widely used, widely distributed book of all time. The Sadducees release the apostles saying that they're teachings would wither away much like other religions that have come before Christ. Here we are millenniums later. He is Real. Jesus is Coming. He is Love. And we are all His prize. You are His. You will have multiple opportunities to come to know Him. But you would be wise to not mock Him.
