To Protect and to Serve...

it might skew it a little but not that much.....Just bc other things are dangerous that takes our concentration away from the road....it doesn't mean that we shouldn't try to stop something that we know is extremely dangerous to do while driving.

I just have a hard time differentiating punishment for driving like a fool regardless of the cause.

bc even if drinking doesn't cause u to swerve all over the road.....it causes delayed reaction times which causes fatal accidents.....its something very dangerous that we can try to prevent....

Nothing wrong with trying to prevent. What's wrong is the penalties associated with causing no harm but just bad luck getting pulled over for a broken tail light or road check.

I agree people shouldn't be drunk behind the wheel, I'd just go about deterrence much differently.

It's called probable cause.

Probable cause for what? A sobriety test?

Let's not pretend like an open container is the only reason for a sobriety test to be administered. Nor should we pretend that an action has to be illegal for probable cause to occur (for example smelling alcohol on my breath would give you probable cause, but it's not a crime for my breath to smell like alcohol).

Where is McDad when we need him?

A thread started in the pub made me think of a question. I didn't want to highjack that thread and didn't want to start a new one so I'll ask it here.

You've got a 55 mph 6 lane highway. The flow of traffic is about 72 mph. Is it wrong to drive with the flow of traffic? If so why?

Of course not. Be sure to cry about how you was going as fast as everyone else when your pulled over.

I'm shocked you skipped the part of the question that required you to rationalize that.

What's to rationalize? If you're going 17 mph over the limit you're at risk to be pulled over like the rest. I'm assuming you think because everyone is doing it that the cops are gonna just let everyone slide.

I always jump in behind the fancy car that is going really fast thinking the cop will get them first lol

Refuse to obey and see what happens. What's confusing is the inability to even question authority.

I noticed also you kinda side-steeped the question as well. Wish I could say I was surprised.

U cant challenge the ones enforcing the law but u can most certainly work to get laws changed.

Do you think gov agencies that collect the communications of Americans without a warrant in order to arrest them is justifiable? Is that oppression?

I feel that we need to get that changed but has that ever been used against u?
