I agree that there isn't enough video evidence to sway me one way or the other. But you have said something again that caught my attention. You mentioned that the suspect was running.Does the suspect running change the rules of engagement for a cop?

What about for a homeowner or a concealed carry holder? If a suspect is running towards me or away from me (shouldn't matter what direction if they are running), will the law look favorably upon me if I open fire?

It actually does matter which direction. Say they are running towards you, couldn't you at that point consider yourself to be in danger (depending on the circumstances) and consider that person a threat? Say they were verbally threatening you prior to the actions, saying things like they were going to hurt you, stab you, kill you, whatever. And then they run towards you. The law would take that as you perceiving a threat against your own safety and would (very probably) declare it a valid shoot.

What's actually interesting about the video (you are correct there isn't really enough to go either way) was that the cop was backing up. Typically why would one back up if a person was running away from them?

Food for thought. But this does seem like a situation where less than lethal could have been used. Obviously we only have one side of the story so far, so I'll hold judgment until more comes out.

In my opinion the direction in which they're running is key. If they've broken in my house and I catch them running away then they got lucky..... If I catch them coming in and they continue to come in without running away....... Double tap
I can't speak for the cops..... I have no idea what their rules of engagement are.

The direction they are running would matter if you are a civilian, I'm not 100% certain it would matter if you are a cop.

I don't care who they are, if they have their cap on sideways or backward, shoot'em dead. Doesn't matter what they have or haven't done, shoot'em dead.

That was your response to why a black man was shoot multiple times (8 I believe) in the back. So I didn't insinuate it. You did.
