Pete always has been so subtle and tactful with what he says. :)

True story. The bookie he used in Franklin, Oh was 3-4 miles from where I grew up. Third floor above Kinney's Restaurant. If you knew Franklin, you knew Pete wasn't coming to town have a decent steak. It burned down a few years ago. He was a bud of my guidance counselor in HS. Pretty exciting as a HS kid getting to meet him.

If Joey plays the way he did today I will never say another word against him. He played within himself. He made a nice defensive play on the throw from Todd. He has more bat speed. They just need to rest him every 7-10 days to keeps his legs strong. Hit .300 with a .400 OBP and play steady.

Had no idea Byrd had that kind of glove. Some really strong D.

Met Rose when I was 4. My mom struggled to get the camera working and he yelled at her. He's an ass but I still idolized that guy growing up.

lol. Kind of a hot or cold kind of guy with the public. But everybody loved him anyway. He knew it though. He got played by some guys that knew his gambling problem and they rode him for all it was worth.

My dad became a Reds fan when he was in Vietnam. The only baseball games he could hear was the Reds. In 1977 or 78 (I was very young) my parents took me to see The Big Red Machine play the Pirates. Rose was closing in on 3000 hits. Rose was signing autographs at a local Chevy dealership. I have been a serious Reds fan since

I am glad we are switching to Nike, if for no other reason then how God awful ugly the Adidas uniforms have been in the Tournament (see Wisconsin's uniforms).

That white strip is hideous.

Watched the game with a buddy in a bar. Pretty bleh game. On the plus side, Grilli will do fine for us. He's not Craig, but he's really good. Our bullpen believe it or not is just as good or close to it. We lack explosion with bats. Freddie and Nick are our only hopes. I'm interested to see Jace too

I saw him play for the Phillies, I'm guessing it must have been '79. I hate the Phillies, but I was a Pete Rose fan.

Great stuff - a big thanks to your dad. That had to be a thrill. Pete later joined up with a guy we played against in HS out of Dayton - Mike Schmidt.

Once a Reds fan, always a Reds fan (RFL). My dad was the one that got it going for me as well. He played semi-pro in the coal mining leagues for an affiliate of the Pirates even though he remained a Reds fan. We moved up there after most of the mines shut down for him to find work when I was a baby. He started taking me to games at the old Crosley Field back in the late 50s when I was 4 or 5 years old. Saw Frank Robinson, Vada Pinson, Jim Maloney, etc. Then in '63 he took me to a game to see "a real ballplayer" per Dad. Pete. Wow. I was hooked.

He also started bringing me back down to Neyland and UT games in the early 60s. Taught me all about the greats of the past and of the General. Best of both worlds if you ask me. I know you feel the same.
