I'm so sick of hearing Bruce Pearl. He had his chance and blew it. There are other coaches that are going to be great We need to find one.

Buttttttttttt it was just a cookout! It was an honest mistake! It's not like Bruce has a history of lying in his personal and professional life!!!

Because we would just have fired a coach about to get a show cause, just got off probation in football, and rehired the coach we had to fire for a three year show clause.

The good news? Jimmy Cheek and Dave Hart are smarter than this fan base, so it won't happen and it doesn't matter.

The second one wasn't that serious. But the first one I can hope could happen. I'm sure they have their top choices, a few of them turn them down and they're not too convinced with the others, and throw Bruce's name out there.

Although you're probably right, that might be under "anything is possible".

Pearl should call up Hart and the booger eater and offer to pay half of his buyout, and to coach his first year for free. That would cover the rest of his buyout. UT would basically be getting a great coach for free. You know Pearl surely has the money to do that if he wanted to. It won't happen, but a thought nonetheless.

While I know it won't happen I would love to see him come back and it would unite the fan base better than any other hire

I'm guessing that everyone has lied to a boss or business partner at some point. Have you ever called in sick just to get a day off? Put a personal item on an expense account? Borrowed office supplies for home use? Fudged a time card to cover a late arrival or early departure? Talked about confidential information with a spouse?

Let's cut to the chase. If the choice is a no name cheap hire or Pearl who do you want?

But I thought UT fired DT and BP for NCAA irregularities. So you mean they'd fire one crook and rehire a known crook? They may as well keep the crook they had.

The cookout wasn't the only issue. They would have withstood that. The problem was after Bruce aplogized and swore to never do anything again he went out and covered up a Brian Williams drug test, gave tickets to some kids when he wasn't supposed to, and made contact "bump violation" with a prospect. Also he was trying to get people to lie on his behalf. Not saying those are any worse than what other coaches commit , but if you're under the microscope of the NCAA you can't do even minor things to raise questions.

Tennessee had no choice because the NCAA saw the situation as this guy just went up and cried and seemed to sincerely apologize and then made more poor decisions after the fact. That's why he got hit a lot harder. I still didn't agree with a 3 yr show cause but seemed they wanted to make an example.
