What is really going on??

The current UT offense was actually installed by Al Saunders in 1982. It's been tweaked since then, but it's still essentially the same system. It may be the oldest continuously-run offensive system in major college football now that Nebraska is out of the power-I.

Nebraska's out of the Power-I/Option formation. Thanks for the info. :good!:

I guess at this point I look at it like this....

I'm not interested in the position until I know....

1. How much control I have.
2. The pay.
3. What assistants I can bring in.

After those questions are answered I will let you know if I am interested in the job.

That's just the way I am looking at it right now Freak. I just can't seem though to get it out of my head a HC in the SEC for almost 17 years doesn't even have people who are interested enough to let the media know they are interested. What would be wrong in just admitting they are??

So, the day Cut announces he's leaving Fulmer is already supposed to have this 'list', not of the guys he wants to interview, but of guys that have somehow been pre-screened (during the football season I guess). They've all come to an agreement on amount of control, pay, and assistants -- just in case the job happens to open up at the end of the season. Riiiiiiiight.

Furthermore, Fulmer's not going to post a wanted ad that says:

HELP WANTED. PAY $500K. YOU ARE IN CONTROL OF THE OFFENSE. BRING OWN STAFF. INQUIRE WITHIN.

Everything is a negotiation, once it's been determined two people are, you guessed it, interested in each other. Then the details can be discussed. Those three things you list may be different for every candidate.

Every coach has some asst coaches he keeps his eyes on year in year out. Will Overstreet said it so it must be true.

So do we have a list with people who are interested or not?? :)

That's kinda my point. Who would be interested in not running their own offense scheme?? I think this is the reason the list he had didn't pan out.

Do you guys really believe that, Fulmer calls (75% of the) plays? Come on.

If that's the case why not just save the money and name himself OC from the start?

Fulmer is not looking to hire someone and then second guess them by calling the plays himself. That's crazy.

No, not with Cut he didn't, but with a new guy that he doesn't have complete trust in, yes he will. He is scared to death that this new guy will get him fired.

welcome to what you've created freak. I must say 90% of the time this a fun board. But this 10% we're in right now makes me have an understanding as to why Hubbs sets the "accept UT policies or else" regulations.

I really feel for you and the mods that have to scour through all of this to keep it clean.

Screw the list. Fulmer seems to be afraid to hand the keys to the offense over. Why doenst he just name himself O.C.?

He's already considered it and with no public interest in the job it seems like it COULD not WOULD but COULD be a possibility. He's already said he thought the offense was pretty good when he was OC.

Not unless that new guy involves bringing back Randy Sanders.

Fulmer is looking to these new hires to help save his job.

and he ran one heck of an offense. No way you can deny that. But it's not going to happen. please quit with this doom and gloom.

Please share with us what is REALLY GOING ON then your all knowing highness.

God forbid we talk on a message board or speculate.

Name something positive that has happened in this coaching search to this point. I can't think of any. There have been no "formal" offers as well.

and that's all you're doing is speculating. Speculating on the worst possible outcomes and saying there's no chance of nothing else happening. The end is near my friends according to the way you talk. Just admit you have no idea.

only because he's even keeping Hubb's in the dark on this one. Since you can't learn anything on Volquest it's over in your book.
