Does Cam Cameron get a call?

Why not expect the same in 05 from Saban if that's your expectation then?

Also, I don't think the Saints program was nearly as down as the Phins. Saban's wasted time and energy with the whole QB thing left a whole lot of other issues neglected. I'll give Saban credit for knowing it was time to go and that he wasn't capable of turning it around.

In 2005 Saban took a 4-win team to 9 wins. That's pretty good. The QB problem was the fault of team doctors that told Saban that Drew Brees wasn't ready, but Daunte Culpepper was.

As for the Phins being down, I'd say Saban left them better off than he found them.

he screwed up taking Ginn in the draft...from there it was all down hill

Ginn was booed when introduced to Dolphin boosters as their draft choice because Saban had wasted his entire time trying to find a QB. So, with Brady Quinn available, that seemed like an obvious pick.

However, to Ginn's credit, he's one of the only Phins who made any highlights this year.

At 1-15.... no one gets any credit. Only blame. :p

That's not even close to being true.

The QB problem was grand enough to warrant the HC's attention and subsequent credit or blame.

Better or worse... that's tough to argue since most agree it couldn't be any worse than it is today.

Trent Green or Daunte Culpepper > Jay Fiedler

He wasn't booed because of the QB search. He was booed because everyone thought he was insanely overrated.

Yea... watch the other clips now. Who did they want and what about their history convinced them that's what they needed?

Man, I'm totally shocked that Brady Quinn thought he should have been picked.

Not nearly as shocked as the Dolphin fans that he wasn't.

Saban was a bust in the NFL and his character will always be questioned. He did that himself. But, since he's a Bammer guy, it's UT and others job to make sure it's not forgotten.

Beat Bammer!

OK. Well, I don't really think Brady would have been a great pick, anyway. Regardless, Saban wasn't with the team at the time of that pick.

The point about Saban is that his failures were the reason everyone knew what the Dolphins needed.

Seems like a stretch to me. Again, the QB decision Saban placed in the hands of his doctors. Brees or Culpepper? Saban made the decision on the assumption that Brees wouldn't be able to play.

He was the HC and had the authority for the hiring decision. Any real coach would accept the blame. A coach without any character (like Saban) would probably try to excuse himself as you have.

Anyone who plays for him should expect the same support. If its his arse or that of one of his player's, we can only speculate as to whose he'll seek to save.

Monstrous stretch. So Saban has no character because someone on an internet message board that's never even met the man is arguing that something really wasn't his fault??????

I don't think people questioning Saban's character are limited to an Internet site, a single state, or any portion of the globe.

What sports media outlet (outside the state of Alabama) hasn't questioned his character?

The question is why do you feel so compelled to distort that truth?

I didn't think arguing about Saban's skill as an NFL coach had anything to do with his character.

Second, just because some sports radio guy says it, doesn't make it truth.

They are separate issues. He's short on both. He was a bad NFL coach and he has a widely-questioned character. We've talked about both in this thread.

His was not a successful head coach in the NFL. I don't think Saban himself even makes that claim. If he did that would provide even more evidence against his character.

BTW, I googled 38000 links for Nick Saban character. The issue is just not as isolated as you must believe. It's an issue for him in the public venue whether its true or not. His problem is that he's provided enough public evidence for many to question it. Thanks for not asking me to post them all.

Search engine hits has got to be the most overrated statistic in history.

Anyway, I'd bet there are quite a few people out there questioning Phil Fulmer's character. Think about it. He took his boss/friend's job. He also snitched on Bama. That is how a lot of people view Fulmer. Does that mean his character is bad? Public perception isn't everything. I don't know much about Saban's character. The "I will not be the head coach at Alabama" thing looks bad. But, have you never changed your mind after making a statement like that?

Bad and unsuccessful are different things. I don't think Saban was successful in the NFL, I also don't think he was bad.

I cant view that as a negative.
