Why not expect the same in 05 from Saban if that's your expectation then?
Also, I don't think the Saints program was nearly as down as the Phins. Saban's wasted time and energy with the whole QB thing left a whole lot of other issues neglected. I'll give Saban credit for knowing it was time to go and that he wasn't capable of turning it around.
In 2005 Saban took a 4-win team to 9 wins. That's pretty good. The QB problem was the fault of team doctors that told Saban that Drew Brees wasn't ready, but Daunte Culpepper was.
As for the Phins being down, I'd say Saban left them better off than he found them.
