I'm wondering if it were cases where he smacked around a homeless person or some other vulnerable member of society but there just wasn't someone with a cell phone camera out.

You're right. He didn't comply so he got tazed. When are people going to learn they have no choice but to comply immediately with the instructions given to them by the police? If he had a heart attack, it would have been his own fault.

People need to learn that the badge is all powerful.

It doesn't matter what you think your rights might be. If you are stopped, you must do the following:
1. Immediately produce identification.
2. Immediately assume a posture of submission. Look at the officer's feet, put your hands up in the air, consider going down on your knees.
3. Immediately confess to any and all dangerous items, cash or valuables on your person, in your car or in your house.
4. Provide information on any criminal activity that may or may not have happened in your presence.
5. Meekly enter the police cruiser when instructed, remain calm and answer all questions completely and quickly.
6. Comply with all booking procedures, cooperating with all department staff without question or complaint.
7. Post bond without complaint and early enough in the day so as to not inconvenience the department staff.
8. Happily pay all court costs, jail fees and any other dues or donations suggested by the police, courts or other members of the law enforcement community. (Don't worry, they offer a low interest payment plan!)
9. Preferably, present yourself to the court without legal assistance. If you must have legal assistance, you should opt for the low paid public defenders who will help you cooperate in your conviction. Remember, only celebrities should hire their own lawyers!

This is the law in every city, county and state across the USA and remember if you don't do any of these things, you could be shot without any warning!

Not badges per se, really it is genetics and the process that identifies the right members of society to elevate to be our protectors. If you haven't noticed, since the mid-90s, we've developed a more refined and improved process to identify the right type of person to enter the police academies. We've successfully weeded out most of the types of undesirable individuals brought into the law enforcement community in the 70s and 80s. That includes those with different life views, different life experiences, those raised in the high crime areas, the creative problem solvers and those willing to develop relationships with the public. We've successfully replaced them with individuals with high levels of loyalty, both to their comrades as well as loyalty to the letter of the law. In other words, we've replace the "Mahoney" types with the "Tackleberrys" (from Police Academy). We're all better served now.
