The Christian Taliban

i'm not over simplifying. it comes down to two theories.

evolution believes that something came from nothing and that something randomly evolved through mutations.

creation believes that God created the universe in 7 days.

I believe in creation. I reject the theory that we came from random nothingness

if the bible use evolution in creation, it would have said it.

I do believe that God created everything in 7 days, and also reject "the theory that we came from random nothingness". I was referring to other parts of the evolution theory. It would be too much of a conversation in this medium so I will leave it at that.
And before you suggest i'm a theistic evolutionist I'm not. Carry on.

Now I'm a Gator fan and a Catholic; this just keeps getting better.

If you call me a Vandy fan, it's on!

Feel free to put together an intelligent argument refuting the points of my initial post regarding faith humanism and abandoning the scientific method...or realize that i am not an uneducated jackleg like you suppose all creationists are...that there is no scientific consensus regarding your ill fated belief system..and keep hurling dbag insults from the sidelines. Whatever floats your little boat.

yet, you don't know. my guess is that you've not studied the Bible. that was not a parable.

I've personally read every word of the Bible 3 times: NIV, NRSV, and NKJV. I've also read "The Story" translation, but I don't include that as an actual Bible, though it is an interesting project.

I've also read thru the entire New Testament more times than I can possibly recall.

Since I became a parent, my reading time has been diminished, so I've committed myself to reading at least one book of the Bible every month. Though I skipped most of Numbers and Deuteronomy, as I don't think I will get anything more out of the census and temple regulations that I did the previous times I read them.

I'm not going to claim that I know more or less than you or anyone else. But trust me, if you want to talk student to student, I can oblige.

I suppose I should not be so judgmental of where these churches are. But my impression is that they are money making scams.

Most churches are there for the money. Preaching is a good business these days.

Marcus has never argued for his YEC position as far as I can remember; he elects just to pop in to tell us non-believers 'how it is'. He's like a poor mans Smokey, real good at telling us how someone else has knocked us the f*** out. I suspect it's less about lack of testicular fortitude than it is about lack of cerebral brawn.

You would have to go waaaaay back a year or 2 in mybpost history to see where i wasted my time on the subject. I gave up on the God thread also about 2000 posts ago. Stopped reading somewhere around 6k. You can criticize me all you want. Doesnt rustle my jimmies. Doesnt change the fact that Pastor Orange clowns you guys whenever he has the time to. Good luck with your belief system. I am content with mine...if i wanted to argue i would offend my wife.

Why, so you'll ignore them?

No scientific consensus of evolution? What rock have you been living under? Abadoning the scientific method? Are you just throwing put phrases Ken Ham told you to?

You guys still don't apparently know the difference between evolution and abiogenesis.

The only reason he "clowns" anyone is because you believe what he believes.

So how does his belief make him ignorant? Prove his belief is wrong.

New Earth Creationism is demonstrably false. Whether you accept the consensus that the universe is billions of years old, belief that this world is only 6,000 or so years old cannot be supported through any observable facts.

In the past couple of years alone, archaeologists found evidence in South Africa that early humans (or their forebears) were using fire almost a million years ago.

I personally have questions about certain scientific theories and suppositions. But I find it sad that so many believers seem to think that they've grasped the fullness of God's works, or that they're even capable of doing so. I came to the conclusion shortly after becoming a believer that God doesn't intend for us to understand the scope of who and what He is. At least, not within this life.

The funniest part about all this is it's quite obvious you've given your religious beliefs hardly a fraction of the skepticism you've given evolution.

If you judged your religion the same way you judge evolution, there's no way you'd believe it either.

I've always found this dynamic pretty interesting. It holds for other things outside of evolution as well (look at the conspiracy thread).
