The meltdown that is happening on the Vandy message boards

I remember immaxyl. Didn't have the courage initially to say who he really was, tried saying he was a fan of all Tennessee teams..... Vandy, UT, MTSU, Tenn St, etc. What an idiot. I was wondering where he went. For those of you on twitter, he goes by the same handle, immaxyl, there if you wanna poke a little fun at him.

Freak smacked little immy around some time ago. I don't think he was banned, he just doesn't have the cajones to play on the big board. Kind of like vandy playing in the SEC, just something to toy with. OTH, VMC is top notch. Wife had a kidney transplant exactly a year ago at VMC (would have went to UT but a little thingy about insurance (VMC accepted - UT didn't), long and short - VMC is great - vandy sucks - immyaxyl is butthurt - GO VOLS - WE OWN NASHVILLE.

EDIT- Oops - WE OWN TENNESSEE

Freak could beat him up imo.

Freak has plenty of weapons at his disposal and poor Don would likely look something like this:

Can you give details? He seems to be respected on the vandy board. I just remembered reading something about him on one of our threads. That's why I thought it was strange when he started complaining about being banned on VN.

I mean, my gosh, we let some of these people come on and post all kinds of things. On the LV forum, they are even starting threads about uconn/usc; seems like they should go in the Around the NCAA forum, but regardless, they are posting. So I'm not buying into VN being so quick to ban other fans. Sometimes I wish we would ban some of them!

I wouldn't say he's respected over there (you are free to come rebut this post Immy child) as there are only a couple of posters that generally command respect. Let's face it, there aren't a lot of posters there anyway...

So to the question, he came over here trash talking and twisting the tiger's tail. And pretty much got smacked in the mouth by the vast majority of fans here when talking about history. Kept on with the whole "we're on the rise and we own the State" nonsense. I guess he got tired of being the chew toy and constantly reminded of history (or lack thereof) with Vandy's program and went home.

Good riddance, but he was good for a few laughs.

I just thought I was killing some of the precious few extra minutes I had on VN............. I can't imagine TOTALLY wasting them on a candy 'fan' board.

......back to my beer........

Give it a try. I followed a link posted here and some of their posts are hilarious. Not all, but some of them....words can't describe. Twilight zone is the best I can say. But sometimes I do have a twisted sense of humor, so it may not be for everyone.

they are also a tiny school compared to us as far as the student body goes.

So size is definitely a factor.

David Williams, VU chancellor (they don't have an AD, as Gordon Ghee, former chancellor disbanded their "athletic department years ago) has put greater emphasis on athletics in recent years than any of my now 35 years in Nashville.

They're upgrading facilities (which will still be woefully behind the rest of the SEC) and paying a competitive salary to coaches.

The problem is, as you said, limited access to elite athletes, especially in comparison to a college like Stanford.

That, and they have like 100 fans show up for games...

Fan attendance would improve if they started winning.

It simply isn't a priority to them. And unlike schools like Stanford where talent is more readily available (it's not easy to get into Stanford, but there is an absurd amount of football talent in California), they don't have access to the same kind of players, even with being in the SEC.

Makes sense as they're competing with TN and the other SEC schools.

I just don't understand how you let it get so bad in the first place and then do very little to try and improve it over the years. How does the school and the fans accept what goes on with their football program? Wouldn't you want to build your program up so you bring in the fans and bring in the revenue?

Unless you're a student or an alumni at Vanderbilt you'd almost HAVE to be a VOLS fan. I don't think any rational person would stomach being a Vanderbilt fan unless they're just masochistic.

It's been said, but a good chunk of alumni/faculty/etc truly view it as beneath them.

Football is a dumb game reserved for the big, stupid state schools.

They had two straight 9-win seasons and their attendance still sucked ass. Nobody Gives a crap about them.

This. Friend of mine had season tickets those two seasons and he complained all the time that attendance was bad, especially Franklin's last year--after they had their biggest bowl win ever.

He text me while he was at a game one time...not only had his wife fallen asleep but so had this not so old man in front of him.

IIRC, the only words it had in the text message was "this is sad."

He almost got it right. Not sad. Freakin hilarious.

I took a minute tonight and checked on little bro. I searched some message boards and fan's twitters and I am happy to report back that it's S.O.V. They have went back to the pre-James Franklin days of constantly hating on Tennessee, talking about how their student athletes are holier than thou (lol karma) and do not stoop to the level of these other SEC teams. Their new favorite argument is how the other horrid SEC members and their filthy attrition. I am thrilled that they have gave up on winning once again. Welcome back to the bottom of the SEC Vanderbilt. You are and forever will be... Same. Ole. Vandy

New favorite argument is every other school's "filthy attrition" eh? Interestingly enough, since 2002, the average SEC team's average attrition is 40%.... Vandy's is 37%. Lotta kids hanging around for that degree, huh? Haha!

After our loss to Kentucky...

Vandymania:

Tomorrow night is turning into a huge game, if we can pull it out we can finish top 10.

lol...

Only Vanderbilt would be excited about finishing in the top 10... of their own conference. Why do those people even watch sports? I like bad teams but at least they're pro and have a chance to be good at some point. Vanderbilt will never have the pull to be good at the college level. At least not in football or basketball. Not unless they switch conferences or land a hall of fame coach that will never leave their program. What person has ever shown up at Vandy though and thought to themselves... "I wanna spend my career here". No hall of fame coach would ever do that. Now, a 5 win football coach or a 15 win basketball coach, they might stay there forever because that's overachieving at a p.o.s. program like Vanderbilt. It's no wonder finishing 10th out of 14 in conference is considered success. The fact that they can even field a football team is a success if you ask me. But actually winning? Gtfo. They win every time their program still hasn't been shut down due to being totally inept in the football and basketball world of sports. For the record, I think I understand why they feel superior academically as their fans talk crap. I as well, am impressed by their genius. They've found a way to continue making SEC money despite producing a CUSA quality product on the field and court. At least when we suck, Tennessee can generate revenue, spends money and fills stadiums. Vanderbilt can't even fill their stadium of 40,000. The revenue they're bringing into the SEC actually devalues the conference and takes money out of the pockets of programs that have actually earned it. I predict decades upon decades of Vandy missing a bowl but getting a cut of the revenue. Vandy really is smart... when a cockroach can get an equal share, they've definitely outsmarted you.

ouch!

From Vandymania. A negadore meltdown after Vandy hired a mere graduate assistant to coach safeties.

Someone please talk me off the ledge.

Maybe this guy ends up good. Maybe with us, or down the road as he gains experience. All I see is that here is a guy who was a coordinator of a junior varsity team in 2011, who is now in the SEC. We hired another graduate assistant.

Have we hired any coaches this offseason who a) have RELEVANT experience in the same position we hired them for, and weren't headed for the unemployment line otherwise (Ludwig)?

It's hard to imagine this isn't telling of the opinion of our program and its current state from within the coaching community right now. I hope we see very real and significant progress this season--if not, we absolutely MUST cut the line.
