Probably just that he's seen examples of great relationships that came apart in 20 to 25 years of total marriage. Which while likely true...was kinda in poor taste.
As one about to celebrate 30 years, the single biggest piece of advice I can give to anyone younger is this: First, don't allow your identity to be in your things, or career, or kids, or physical attributes. Know who you are and what you believe outside of anything else. Second, build your relationship based on a friendship with the true identity of your mate.
Life is change. Stuff comes and goes, looks mostly go, kids grow up, jobs grow stale. If you make your relationship a friendship based one who you really are...the only constant...you'll go the distance. Never become so wrapped up in what you are doing at the moment that you don't take time to date your mate...lest you wake up after 20+ years of career building and child rearing and wonder who the heck that is sleeping beside you. It happens. A lot.
Edit: Sorry Sam. Like others, it sounded like a reference to the wife...not the kids. And yeah...I have two young adult daughters...there is a bit of drama.
10 years, this April. Told her on the third date I was going to marry her. She was a two sport athlete in college and, aside from me having a height advantage of over one foot, she's the better athlete...and just better, overall, at everything else.
First game we went to was the Florida game in '04...Wilhoit's kick.
We have our third girl 2 weeks before our 10th anniversary in April...my second is in my lap as I type this.
I'm a lucky man.
I know I'm responding a little late, but I wanted to say how much I appreciate this post. Needed to hear this right now, with a 4-year-old, a six-month-old, a career that is taking a lot of my time and energy, etc.
He's back," Jancek said. "He's in the weight room. He's doing everything. He's been cleared for all of that. I anticipate him being full go for the spring and really getting an opportunity to solidify a position on our defense."
Jancek said he isn't concerned about position with Bates, whether he plays middle or outside linebacker, mostly because defense against spread offenses requires all three linebackers to be able to play in space, and therefore there is only so much physical difference in the requirements for the position. He said he's simply trying to get his best 11 on the field.
Their fans on Twitter are really sad. Posting pictures of Vandy's World Series win last year in baseball as a rebuttal to the "OurState" tweets. Like anyone really cares. South Carolina won it twice in a row and their fans barely mentioned it. Vandy acts like it somehow makes up for their absolutely dismal football and basketball programs.
Serrano will have UT's baseball team competitive again soon enough, and until that happens, 99% of our fanbase will be plenty happy watching us lap the West Enders in recruiting and on the field/court in the two main sports.
