'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

Appreciate it.

I said a long time ago Kendall might flip. Had a hunch, based off nothing. I still think it's an extreme longshot. But shoutout to all the vol fans who called me a troll :p

I can't see why a top notch quarterback like Austin would want to go to Kentucky where they could finish 6th his entire time in College when he could come to a Tennessee team that will probably challenge for the SEC Championship in that same period of time.

Idk, sometimes kids don't always go to where they "should" go. Like I've said before, recruits are kids and motivated by more than just winning to pick a team. If recruits picked teams based off recent history alone, then by your logic why would they pick the Vols. But there's a lot more behind the pick. Tradition, coaches, etc. Combine that with winning and recruiting is a lot easier though.

Twas a joke. But at the same time, it was also true. Why would anyone ever go to UK for football with the type of offers this guy has?

P.S. I know his brother plays there which is why he had UK interest in the first place.

Hope, faith in the coaches, all that stuff. Every program has to start somewhere I guess.

FWIW, Kendall's average QB rating last year was a 108.3 while Guarantano's was a 73.2, and Kendall had a higher rating in 9 games than Guarantano's single-best effort (101.7).

That said, there's no doubt that Waxhaw played a much weaker schedule than Bergen Catholic last year. If you give any merit to MaxPreps' rankings, Waxhaw's highest-ranked opponent was 1250th nationally while BC's lowest-ranked opponent was 800th. They also played teams ranked 3rd, 15th, 24th & 90th nationally.
Nice info

Honestly, I've thought you were a troll for a long time, but you've been consistently ok for a while now. Otherwise you're a determined one.

Tim Couch did, when Kentucky was worse and we were better. Thank goodness he did though.

go to UK and play for someone other than Stoops. Play with your walk on brother, Finish 6th in the East and watch UT compete For the SEC East/SEC title every yr starting in 2016. Sounds arrogant to say but it is what it is.

Did this kid decommit bc according to you guys this is a done deal. He hasn't decommited yet so let's calm down. We have been on this kid for a while. Said this at the beginning of this trend he is one of my favorite QB this cycle.

We still had Peyton Manning and Fulmer's pitch included allowing Couch to play important parts of games during Peyton's Heisman campaign...Couch didn't buy that...he was a Kentucky legend and Hal Mumme had a fun wildass passing offense in the works. We had to settle for Tee Martin as heir apparent.

Kendall hasn't decommitted at this point. He is one of the top 2016 QB prospects so he will be heavily recruited by everybody. CBJ will continue to recruit him if he is #1 on their QB board. All the other teams will try and use the 3 2015 signees as a negative recruiting tactic.

Like I said, thank goodness we didn't get Couch. 1998 would not have happened with that guy under center. He may have been a better pure passer than Tee, but Tee forced our offense to adjust to his style under Cutcliffe, and we became a tougher team with a mobile qb who could throw deep as well as beat you with his legs.

I don't see this prospect sticking with UT. Part gut feel, part current circumstances, and zero inside info.

Possibly but if our primary competition for him is UK, I like our chances. I think a lot of the QB position will depend on how the three on campus from this last class do. Transfer or one of those kids not turning out well at the position and we may look at taking another QB outside of Kendall. That may push him elsewhere if he is set on being the only QB taken in this class.

Preston Williams decommitting was a done deal, too. That thread is filled with pre-decommittal bashing so that posters wouldn't feel so hurt when he left. And then he didn't.

Chill. Go buy your lovey some flowers.

Filled? Who all is saying the kid is decommiting? I think only a select few? Most of us are laughing at the notion that he would decommit to go to UK.

I think that's the misconception around here. One or two vocal morons make statements and put them forth a few hundred times, then it becomes "those posters on VN Recruiting forum are idiots". Don't group in the several good rational posters with the few bad apples on here please. Thank you sir. :hi:

Without doing research, I'd wager most of those defeatist posts were from FF regulars and Catbone...who has his own special category. :)

Fort over on VQ said Austin was concerned with UT taking 3 QBs last year. He said it has him "looking around" and mentioned UK. You may view Fort as a moron, but he did say it.

Unfortunately we had to take 3 with Peterman leaving. I don't blame the staff. You take the guys you want when you can get them. Sherion was our top QB on the board early in season according to Ryan Bartow when we had all 3 guys at camp. So knowing Peterman was leaving it was a no brainer to take Jones. Jones has that championship swag to him

Imo, they didn't have to take 3. If they wanted a 3rd, IMO it should have been a juco or a transfer with some experience. 3 HS guys imo will prove to be a waste.

The staff wanted 3 and took 3. That's their right. Of course it's Austin's right to then say "I'm out" , if he feels the need. 3 QB classes are VERY rare. Imo most recruits are not going to want any part of coming in behind that. Imo no one should be surprised Kendall is rethinking things.

I don't see a material difference between coming in behind two QB's or three QB's. Either way, you are going to have to wait your turn behind more than one guy. If all goes as planned for two QB's one starts as a senior and one starts as a RS senior. Its the same delay when you bring in 3 QBs. You can only stagger them by one year. So really it makes no difference. Besides, chances are good one of the three will transfer out anyways giving you a 2 QB class in the end.
