'16 NC QB Austin Kendall (former UT commit)

After we missed on Cornwell, there was no uncommitted QB that Butch was really keen on IMO...he barely kicked the tires on McClellan. We're in a different place I'm sure you'll admit, than before the 2013 season...we're on these QBs and developing relationships around their freshman and sophomore season and aren't in token top fives...you worry too much, but never change old pal! :eek:k:

Butch looked like he would have sold the naming rights to the stadium to just get McClendon to visit. Recruits were just not buying. It happens at times when you're taking multiples. As good as Austin is, coming in the class after taking 3 looks to be an issue to him.

It would not be an intelligent move for this kid to go to UK. Has he seen our D-Line depth chart? It will not be fun to play against us, as the UK QB, for the next several years.

GFW, will/can you give us your opinion and insight on the OC hire? And incase you've already posted it else where I apologize.

There is just so many Debord threads and so much crap spewed in em I honestly havnt taken the time to read thru em all. I just didn't feel like becoming suicidal this past week.

TIA

You act like that's what recruits really value when they choose a school. Recruits don't pick a school because they don't want to play against a particular team. By that logic no one should have picked UT in the last two years.

I have seen nothing that indicates that Austin is going to Kentucky. In fact, he has stated that he in really firm to Tennessee.

This.

One CB, a "hail mary" pick to UK. No one else is jumping on that pick and doing the same. Kendall probably is considering other schools, because no doubt he sees the competition at UT and worries he might not play for a long time. But it's not like UK has an open QB spot for him. We had one of the better first year starters in the league imo. Towles is our QB of the future, and unless he gets injured he should be there for two years. Kendall will probably evaluate this and realize it's safer going to UT, and at worse learn for two years and have a couple years where he can possibly be a starter.

Well we didn't take multiples that year! and I'd be interested in a valid source on that full court press...didn't hear any of that on here (GFW?)...you prolly didn't notice because your ulcers were generated by defensive line deficiencies back then...can we take more than two safeties NEXT YEAR or is there a stud in 2017 we'll scare off? :)

McClendon set visits to UT and no showed several times. UT just kept trying till late.

I've got us taking 1 S and 1 CB/S in 2016. Also 2 other CBs. With that being 4-5 positions, reasonable IMO.

Doesn't UT already have 2 CB commits? So only one more maybe? Guess they can be picky in who they want soon.

Figured he'd bite at McClendon Stadium brought to you by Hardee's. Like I said...kicking the tires...repeated no shows really don't constitute desperation...Saban sent a LOI to Gaulden on signing day and never stopped phoning Hurd...great recruiters will try because they're great recruiters...hint: Butch is a great recruiter. :shhh:

Butch is a great recruiter. Just because he does some things I wouldn't doesn't mean I feel he is doing a bad job.

Kendall was always the guy I said I wanted us to get in 2016. Butch got him early on. Great job.

Now things he has decided to do since could end up costing us Kendall. Imo, not so great.

See? LOL

If taking care of team needs costs us a player, it's worth every cent. :wink2:

Twas a joke. But at the same time, it was also true. Why would anyone ever go to UK for football with the type of offers this guy has?

P.S. I know his brother plays there which is why he had UK interest in the first place.
