The man needs to just shut his damn mouth up and say just kidding wont answer no more question, just shut the fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff up and be quiet.:banghead2:

I'm thinking you are referring to a certain NFL running back who played at UT?

There was mention that he was being groomed to become the Michigan AD. Then there were some changes at the admin...or he missed coaching football. Not sure, but matters not as he is the OC that CBJ hired. I want to see how offensive play calling changes. I hope he is of the mindset to keep running plays that are working until the opponent stops it...
As good as our defense is going to be we should use the Bama formula run it 50 times. Then throw 20 play action passes. With our D should be good for 8 to 10 wins.

Kiffin runs a Pro-Style offense, Jones runs a spread...it wouldn't work.

But...who do I believe is a better OC? Kiffin, hands down.

I guess that you did watch the Ohio State game, Kiffin completely cost Bama any chance of winning the game with his play calling. Not only that, Kiffin is a complete duche bag and I am glad he's at Bama rather than UT. I'll take Debord anytime over Kiffin.

Kiffin can EAD.

He's been out of football a long time. And now he's running our offense. Calling it a bad hire due to his tremendous absence from football over the majority of a decade is not flipping out, it's just good sense.

Doesn't mean it's doomed for failure but it doesn't invoke a lot of confidence either. Butch is spending a lot of capital with the fanbase with this hire...if it succeeds, we'll all the better for it but, if it fails, the blame and the consequences lies solely at his feet.

The blame would have lied at his feet no matter who he hired if the offense ended up being terrible. All this talk about good hire/bad hire doesn't mean squat in February.

As fans it really just comes down to whether you want to focus on the positives or the negatives. It won't change anything either way.

Im convinced some of you just love complaining.

Had Jones conducted a real search and hired a current coach running a spread offense, then if the offense falters fans would start by blaming the coordinator. Now, if the offense struggles the fans are going to come down hard on Jones, and they should. He will not get the benefit of the doubt. That said, we should have a pretty potent offense no matter who the OC is. We've got a mobile QB and a lot of talent--and if the offensive line is improved, as it should be, there is no reason why we shouldn't score points, even with this old-school salvage project of a coordinator. I don't dislike Debord because he's a veteran but because he's a veteran who hasn't been coaching--and hasn't been a coordinator in a long time. That's the issue more so than his age.

Got my sling.com invite. If anybody is looking to cut cable, it looks like a good deal. They have added a sports package for $5/month with SECN included. Has anybody tried this yet? I do not have cable and currently stream watchespn.com for games on my laptop.

This whole line of discussion is stupid. The guy being paid truckloads of cash...to win...hired the guy he wanted. The comfort level of the fans is nowhere near the top of his list of concerns...keeping the cash truck stopping at his door is. You guys act like he did this because he is too lazy or too scared or too stupid to hire the right guy, except *none* of you know anything about what he considers to be right and why.

So please, before all that is holy, let it go. Some of us would like to stay on VN to hear about recruits and such, rather than the constant drone of you guys who act like Butch hired DeBord just to offend you. If he ends up sucking, I'll light the torches for you and sharpen your pitchforks...but can we please give the guy a few months of failing before we accuse Butch of being incompetent? Please?

You hit the nail on the head. Some people would piss and moan if you gave them a million dollars.

A team which won 11 games 3 years in a row. I hate how some underplay the significance of those wins. When we fell, USCe essentially took our place. Butch beating them was essential for us getting back to our place of prominence. That said, other wins are coming.

UTMVol76, I really don't disagree with you; I just love to trash Spurrier whenever I get the opportunity. :)

Call it whatever you want, no skin off my neck.

I have an opinion that doesn't mesh with popular sentiment on here and yet, though I've maintained that regardless of who the OC is, we should win 9 games..."I like to complain." Riiiight.

Discuss, yes. Debate, definitely. Complain...nope.

I don't like the OC hire and, aside from today, I haven't really posted a lot about it, certainly less than some. I'm just not going to jump on board the group-think bandwagon that Debord is a good hire, simply because Butch hired him.

There seems to be a misunderstanding here, however...I can not like a hire but still root for the guy's success. Why that consistently gets lost in the fray is beyond me.
