Sorry buddy. I don't depend on the government. I've been on the ground here. I've been doing work in Ukraine since 2004. I've seen this firsthand. I'm not hiding behind a keyboard repeating the nonsense found on Russian based sites. I've been in this region. I have seen this in person. I've yet to see oppression in this area. I've seen the ethnic Russian locals run in both directions. I've seen dead bodies from indiscriminate shelling. I've seen an orphanage leveled by Russian artillery. I've seen evangelical churches blown up by Russian Orthodox monks from Moscow because of the "heresy". I've seen remnants of buses after an artillery strike.
My alternate perspective is seeing death in the region firsthand. I saw Maidan events. I've recently returned from the area currently in the news. So please. Question me more on credibility.
He is probably an American mercenary fighting against the free people of the DNR.
I was actually accused of being one while there. I had one ethnic Russian get a small video of me speaking English and then running off screaming I was a CIA agent scouting for the US invasion. Don't know if I made a post on VKontakte or not. Still waiting for my report to produce the invasion.
What line of work are you in? Normally I wouldn't ask, but I can't think of any career that would send employees out in the middle of a civil war... well I can think of a couple but I'm still curious.

The company I work for does political work in Kyiv. But that is solely work in Kyiv. This is why I know of the $5 billion since 1991 that Nuland was referring to. We weren't part of getting that money but we did see how that was spent. We were involved with the Yushchenko campaign in 2004 and have been in and out since then. What gets me to the dangerous areas is involvement with some missions and humanitarian orgs tied to the SE area. This is on my own time and not connected with my job. They aren't thrilled with me "freelancing" but my connections help with some church and NGO work in the region. I've been doing this since about 09-10.
I was wondering how they treated you. You probably didn't come into contact with Ukrainian military forces but I wonder if there are more American volunteers fighting with Ukrainians? I know Vice did a piece on one a few months back but he was KIA awhile back. I'm also curious as to what other nationalities are there fighting on behalf of government forces? Through some research I know there are Belorussians, Georgians, Lithuanians, Polish, and Croatian volunteers.
So you work(ed) for USAid?
That pretty much makes my case for me. You have some USAid worker posting on here and we are supposed to assume that this an unbiased opinion when he admitted himself that he got a portion of the $5 billion that Victoria Nuland was referring to. Of course he going to toe the party line and not bite the hand that feeds him.
You guys are sheep.
If you watch Russian media sources they will make it sound like it's the world joining Ukraine. I met three Ukrainian Americans - guys who "came back home" to help their homeland. I've seen a few other Americans who are like me - doing missions/humanitarian work and nothing combat related. I think the volunteer battalions have a sprinkling of other nationalities. They've cracked down on allowing them unless they speak the language. You see a lot of donations like coats, etc. coming from other countries. But overall, anyone coming from outside Ukraine may find their way into the volunteer units. And those guys are fighting for the cause, not pay like mercs/contractors. The flipside on the other hand has entire units from Russia - ethnic groups clearly from outside Ukraine. The unit that basically took the Donetsk airport was primarily Chechen Kadyrov minions commanded by a Russian nicknamed "Motorola". Much different than a sparse sprinkling seen on the other side. If Russia abided by Minsk and closed the border, most of the fighters in DNR/LNR would rush back and Zakarchenko would have a hard time finding people to fight his battle for him. Most of the people in the east may have sympathies for Russia but they are just not fighting. A lot of the locals are on film saying they don't care who wins anymore and that they just want to be left alone and just live.
No. I work for a private company involved in political campaigns mostly here in the US. We do some international work in some areas. We just provide software and data as well as tools like text blasting, soliciting donations, and GOTV operations. We haven't worked with USAID. The closest groups like that we've worked with are IRI and NDI. Again, this work is pretty much based in Kyiv. My involvement in the SE is my personal involvement with missions/humanitarian orgs - churches, etc. Nothing secret or mysterious. Not an employee of Academi or anything.
