I worked in tv for over 10 years. Never got a chance to work on a good documentary. What did you do on that show? Crew, producing, post? Congrats it's on Showtime. Look forward to seeing it.

I'm a producer on the show. Thanks for the kind words. I've been very lucky.

If you remove the "in decades" and put in "in 4 years" you would possibly have a good argument. Not sure if I would agree or not, but it would be a good argument.

My opinion though.....1997 was a more talented team than 2001. I thought the 2001 team was awesome and it had one of my absolute favorite Vols on it, but 97 was a better team as a whole. JMO of course.

1997 v. 1998 v. 2001. Those were probably the three most talented Tennessee teams since before Coach Majors was hired (so yes I meant to say "decades"). I think 2001 was the most talented overall but I could see a valid argument for the other two as well. Of course an argument about which is the best team is different than "most talented." Regardless, I don't think 2016 will be back up to that talent level yet, but the talent will be the best we've had since 2006.

We're of like minded opinion then.

It's semantics on the particular best team between 97,98 and 01.

I agree with the 2016 assessment though. We really only have two 'Full" CBJ classes on the roster. He'll need to pull two more like teams before this can be a relevant discussion.

It doesn't mean we can't/won't do great things, it just means we won't have that clear of a view for comaparison sake til then.

That was a horrible memory. By the 4th quarter, it was an Auburn home game...in Neyland.

Listening to their fans chant "it's great to be an Auburn Tiger" on the way out of Neyland By God Stadium after a blowout win helped me realize that I truly do hate Auburn.

I heard this week, from Azzanni on the radio I think, that the coaches talked to 120 '16 prospects on Signing Day. Butch personally spoke to at least 100 of them.

With stuff like this above, and also the last two classes, and then with all these positive projections for next season and following....

Butch, to the rest of the SEC, be like:

The 1999 team should be mentioned withose teams. 9 players on that team were drafted.

Yeah, they are number 4 on the hatelist, Bama, Vandy, Florida and the rest of the SEC, oh then Penn State, OSU and USC

Did a UGA breakdown on their current roster talent similar to the one I did for UF last week.

The UF one was as follows
57% 4 and 5*'s
6 - 5*'s
34 4*'s
35 - 3 and 2*'s

UGA's breaks down as follows
18 Seniors (1 5*, 6 4*'s - 39%)
16 Juniors (7 4*'s - 44%)
20 Sophomores (1 5*, 12 4*'s - 65%)
28 Freshman (2 5*'s, 10 4*'s - 43%)

Total % - 48%
4 5*'s
35 4*'s
43 3*'s and below

Tennessee's for comparision
47%
6 5*'s
32 4*'s
44 3 and below

We are pretty much dead even with UF and UGA on total number of 4 and 5*'s.

It's time to win Vol fans.

Great work. Surprising that UF is still the most talented team (not by much) in the EAST. We are right there as you said. Maybe a little younger than UGA and UF, but we should have a great shot in both those games.

Surprised me as well, but if you look, they appear to have less depth now.

Someone could also do a weighted rating by position. A 5 star QB could be worth more than a 5 star TE for example

How badly would the 2015 Vols beat the 2013 Vols?

2013's only advantage would be on the offensive line.

I think 2015 smokes them the same way Missouri and Auburn beat that team. 45-14 or something along those lines.

I also think the 2015 team will be the best Vols squad since 2007, and 2016 will be the best since 2001.

2012 versus 2015 would be more fun. :)

Against that sunseri defense the 2015 team would have 0 punts and one field-goal (which they would announce would be just for Volatil) 436 yds rushing and 374 yards passing

So glad we get the Dawgs in Neyland. Judging by the previous 3 years, it's going to be a nail biter.

Sorry, too much time involved to look at all of the 4 stars, but Georgia's 5 stars are senior OT, sophomore RB (not Chubb), freshman DT, and freshman Athlete (probably WR or CB).

Our 5 stars are Juco RB, sophomore RB, sophomore WR, freshman DT, and freshman OT.

I think Georgia's weakness could be the passing game. They have a new QB, and I don't know many of their WR's other than Malcolm Mitchell. Their defense lost some players but should still be good.

My earliest Vol memories are the Cobb-Webb days and '97, '98, and '01 are the most talented Vol squads I remember. That said, I think the '15 team could very well be the most talented since 2005 and with a top 10 class to go with the last 2, the '16 team could potentially be the most talented since '01.
