The anti-Obama and anti-Muslim crowd have constructed a pretty obvious, and very weak, strawman argument out of this.
When Obama, or anyone else for that matter, points out that atrocities have been committed in the name of Christianity, they do not make that observation in order to excuse what radical Muslim terrorists are doing. Rather, it is pointed out to remind people that there is a difference between the religion, itself, versus those who abuse it/take things out of context in order to justify their own atrocities.
No one is saying its okay for Muslim terrorists to commit terror or murder any more than it was right for Christians to do it, whether it was 6 days ago, or 600 years ago.

So, is Islam immune to Westernization? Can Muslims not reform? The Jews have done it. Christianity has done it multiple times. Given the young age of Islam in comparison to those two religions, is it already time to write off the culture (as a whole) as a threat that must be dealt with now?
I'm asking these question with sincerity because I've known many American born/raised Muslims who are good people. They don't follow every word of the Quran, just as most American Christians disregard 99% of the laws and tenets in the OT which, by the way, I don't see as bastardization. I see THAT as reformation and progression.
OK.. here's your first post.
If what we are witnessing today is reformation and progression, I would really hate to see what will happen if they get pizzed.
While it might be true that there are some liberal mooslims out there, they are a very silent minority. That is not reformation. That is silent approval. We are about to witness a clash of cultures if this thing continues down this path. I am impressed so far with what Jordan is doing, but it is a long way from where we need to be. Our "president" needs to acknowledge what is going on as what it is.
I challenge you to ask these questions of mooslims that you do NOT know. I'll bet you will get a totally different response.
"When Obama alludes to the evils of medieval Christianity, he fails to acknowledge the key word: medieval. What made medieval Christianity backward wasnt Christianity but medievalism.
It is perverse that Obama feels compelled to lecture the West about not getting too judgmental on our high horse over radical Islams medieval barbarism in 2015 because of Christianitys medieval barbarism in 1215.
Its also insipidly hypocritical. President Obama cant bring himself to call the Islamic State Islamic, but hes happy to offer a sermon about Christianitys alleged crimes at the beginning of the last millennium.
We are all descended from cavemen who broke the skulls of their enemies with rocks for fun or profit. But that hardly mitigates the crimes of a man who does the same thing today. I see no problem judging the behavior of the Islamic State and its apologists from the vantage point of the Wests high horse, because weve earned the right to sit in that saddle."
"Every now and then, every time we have a conference, every time we invite a speaker, they [the media] always come with the same accusations: This speaker supports the death penalty for homosexuals, this speaker supports the death penalty for this crime or this crime or that he is homophobic, that he subjugates women, etcetera, said Qureshi in a video posted by the Middle East Memory Research Institute (MEMRI).
"We always try to tell them, he continued, I always try to tell them that it is not that speaker that we are inviting who has these 'extreme radical views,' as you say. These are general views that every Muslim actually has.
Every Muslim believes in these things, said Qureshi at the Nov. 7, 2013 conference. Just because they are not telling you about it, or just because they are not out there in the media, doesn't mean that they don't believe in them.
