Yeah... Parting gift from him...poster in another thread hypothesized that the police action COULD have been a solid to Slive's blood brother Saban after Richmond told them to pound sand...never thought of that...We can't make fun of women and silly reality television with these kinds of shenanigans going on with grown men...that's for sure. :loco:

Could be right about Slime doing a favor for Satan. I'm hoping that the issues with CDT and the BB team don't come up until Slime is gone. That could help him a lot.
Slime has made it clear that he does not like Tennessee at all.

Sorry to be redundant with my gripe from yesterday, but one of the nutjobs on Four Quarters on WVLZ just suggested the fate of Tennessee football under Butch Jones as "caretaker" may turn out to be no different that the fate of, wait for it, JonBenet Ramsey (who also had a caretaker)...he's trying to say that just because Tennessee football has a "caretaker" doesn't mean that things will turn out for the best.

Those guys have GOT to go.

Whoever made that comparison needs a keyboard smashed across their face.

I had a Forensic Science class that I had to research that case, and a professor who was actually involved in the investigation, albeit in an advisory capacity...

The only thing that JBR should be compared to is relevant cases involving similar circumstances, in an effort to apprehend a sexual predator.

**** that guy for making that comparison.

I remember that Satan was upset that we fired his boy Doofus. I felt that he should have been fired after the 2011 Kentucky game. The program was out of control and it was his fault.

At first I didn't understand why Butch would hire DeBord but I was wiling to give the man a chance. But now the reasoning behind the hire has become more and more clear to me. Now he has to prove himself and then I think those that are unsure of this hire will be onboard. That said, all the uncertainty is understood which comes with most hires.

You're probably right except for those few that are still upset about hiring Butch that will never be satisfied. There is one clown on the radio that still thinks Bobby Petrino would have been the best choice. He doesn't like Tennessee but he likes to give his opinion. He says Petrino's past shouldn't be an issue.
I for one will not be surprised if DeBord does an excellent job. I may be a little prejudiced because I'm old too. :)

I get it. The Vols are now running a Michigan offense and a Georgia defense. Free Gruden!

I was anti-DeBord but he brings many of the things we had been asking for.

1. anyone besides Bajakian
2. power run game
3. oline coaching
4. flexible (at least if you buy the UF bowl game story about him going to Carr)
5. better plan to beat UF (see 4)
6. protecting lead (MI won a lot of close games which could be good or bad)

Well you said good or bad but that last one does scare me. I think we are adding a very conservative guy with the lead, to what is already a head coach that has shown a few conservative tendencies with a lead in a few games. Well, I am an old bald guy myself more or less and I know for sure that Bear Bryant himself won a lot of games that way but it was a different era. To get in the playoff teams have to win very convincingly and pour on the points. Not to mention the fact that in this football era large leads can evaporate very quickly. Now I know Jones says he is a full go put the gas on guy all the time. Recruiting wise I believe he is for sure. Scoring in the games the evidence of that has been somewhat limited. The days of looking good like many coaches did just by winning the game are pretty much gone. Teams like TCU and Baylor, whoever Mike Leach is coaching for, will score as many as they can. And the committee last year as much as admitted that if you want in the playoffs that margin of victory is looked at. I have never advocated running up the score in the past but we are living in a different era in football. Margin of victory now matters. If you are up 17 points early in the 4th against say Auburn in the SEC championship game, do we want coaches that are going to go in a shell like a turtle and give Auburn a chance to get back in it? Or coaches that will pour it on as safely as possible and get the touchdown that likely seals the deal getting in the playoffs? This is a bad hire in my opinion, but what do I know? Well maybe not as much as people doing the hiring. But I have been a football fan all my life and I am not football illiterate. I have done some hiring for a fortune 500 company before. Know a little bit about looking for that right individual to fit a certain job. We can make all the excuses we want as to why DeBord is the right guy. There are far more reasons why he may not be. While it is true that it is Jones's job on the line and he is taking all the risk it is also fair to say that as fans we are invested in the program as well. If you are a serious fan and spend significant time or monies supporting the program than you are invested. Time is ultimately more valuable than any money you invest. Our rate of return has really suffered in the last few years. Now that we are on the brink of something that could be truly wonderful, even magical, it seems that it was imperative to get this hire 100% correct. If anyone can look at this hire and say it is a 100% home run, power play, winning shot, can't miss hire, than more power to you. With the talent coming back and the stated interest in the job I have to feel the applicant that would make me feel that way was out there. I'm just not feeling that way. Hope with all my heart I am wrong. Jones has recruited well enough to see his last 2 classes compete the next 2 and maybe 3 years. I hope the on the field performance improves due to coaching and not just a talent upgrade during this time. Jones may not realize it but his confidence in DeBord is shortening his "rope" somewhat. He may succeed with DeBord, but it will get ugly quick the first time ( and each additional time ) that there is a perception DeBord has a bad game plan. One that costs us a game against a Florida, a Georgia, A Missouri. What if he drops a game to South Carolina in the next two years? Or we come out conservative and get beat by Arky by 21? What if we never close the gap against teams in the west? DeBord has attributes that can help the team next year. It is difficult to not think that by hiring him we are walking a very slippery slope. The fans deserved more.

Tom Brady-

The University of Tennessee has hired a great offensive coordinator in Mike DeBord. Mike was my offensive coordinator in college and helped me develop as a quarterback. He has great knowledge in offensive football and quarterback development, and he will do an outstanding job at Tennessee.

Brian Griese-

"Mike DeBord is an outstanding hire for Butch Jones at Tennessee. Mike brings experience on both the NFL and collegiate levels and a demonstrated play-calling ability at the championship level.
"

Mike Holmgren

"While our time together was short, Mike DeBord was one of the finest coaches I ever had. Mike was a great team guy on the staff and his outstanding football knowledge helped me in so many ways! The University of Tennessee is very lucky to have Mike DeBord.

Bill Lazor

"In hiring Mike DeBord, Tennessee is getting a great football coach. He has both a great understanding of the big picture and also the ability to see the details. I have seen first-hand what a fantastic teacher Mike is. He will do a great job developing quarterbacks, and he is a fierce competitor whose passion for the game is unmatched. The University of Tennessee's offense is in the hands of a great leader

Steve Hutchinson

"Coach DeBord recruited me to the University of Michigan and coached me for the majority of my time there. Under him, we had very successful years as an offensive unit. His ability to use the resources on the roster, make him valuable to fit within any system. I am excited to see the Vols offense in action this season!"

Adam Gase

The University of Tennessee is fortunate to hire a coach with Mike DeBord's resume. He is an outstanding and creative offensive coach who has great experience both at the college and NFL level. He coaches with a great deal of enthusiasm and passion and does an excellent job teaching quarterbacks

Matt Hasselbeck

"The University of Tennessee is lucky to have Mike DeBord. I've come to know Mike as a bright offensive mind who quickly gains the trust and respect of the coaches and players he works with."

I think so. His experience and integrity IMO will be greatly beneficial going forward. TIFWIW
I look at his 30 plus years experience as a plus. Not as him being to old.I have felt like the last 2 years our offense has not had rytyem due to CMB play calling. It's like we do something that's working then he would just quit calling it.With Cmd I don't think that's gonna be a problem.

I hope Nick Sheridan is a hell of a QB coach as a GA.

I think it will be fine. Next year Butch will address it long term. Didn't Butch just recently bring in another GA who played QB for him at either Cincinnati or CM? I thought I read that on here a couple weeks ago.
