Specific coaches in this system don't mean as much as they did when Dooley was here in my opinion. He never had a clear direction and the team leadership was spread too thin among the staff. Under Butch, we have a clear and dominant alpha male leader at the helm with a clear philosophy on how he wants things done. You don't join the staff at TN now to change the culture, you come to join the culture that's already there and already working.

Debord brings a ton of experience to the offensive side of the ball. This is a great situation for a guy like him to walk into. He is incredibly lucky to get an opportunity like this. Not sure there are any other big time head coaches in the country that would give him this chance.

Butch has been around him enough to know whether or not he can do the job. He obviously has a ton of respect for him. If Debord was incompetent, Butch would have known that from working with him and probably wouldn't be bringing him in to this once in a lifetime situation he's created here.

Let's be real. With the talent we have, Butch could have hired whoever he wanted. I think that's exactly what he did. I'm down with it.

I don't listen/watch much Finebaum, but happened to catch a few mins on tv this afternoon. A caller from TN asked specifically about DeBord.

Finebaum was pretty optimistic about it coming from the angle that DeBord could fit in well with the coaching "team" at UT, and that ability to mesh well and work together with the rest of the coaching team could be more important than other factors.

I thought it was an interesting angle to look at.

We've got some seriously good talent accumulating at UT right now, no need to get all "Sunseri" up in here.

Continuity of style and personality, and good mojo amongst the coaches. Just thought that was interesting.

Cam and Barnett are my favorite players on D. But not sure if Cam is the best opinion going forward. That's all I'm saying. Last yr Cam was the best and only opinion next yr I could see Kamara Cam Martin even Berry being back there. We have ALOT better athletes to choose from

UT Sports says he played in all 12 games as a True Freshman. Never started but was on the field during extra points and field goals.

I would still try to play Drew as much as possible. I would never redshirt lineman that have the talent to play in the NFL, because if they are that good then they will be gone after the third or fourth year. Might as well give them experience in that first year.

Tunsil for Ole Miss was either a LT or RT his first year.

You are correct. Tiny never was a RS. He backed up Dallas and played on special teams.

Chris Fowler is being replaced by Rece Davis on College Gameday next year.

Weird. Must have caused too many trailer park frenzies.
