We expect Zach Azzanni to also receive a bump in title, role & pay. Would think Butch will announce all of this tomorrow

JONES on the OC search: I’ll be prepared by the end of this week. It comes down to finding the best fit for the University of Tennessee.

TIFWIW

Per Basilio, his contact has informed him:

Mike DeBord will be named OC tomorrow
Will call plays
Work with O line also

Coach Z will get a elevated deal but not Co Coordinator

Mahoney will remain O line Coach

Sheridan will coach qb’s

Again, remember the source and TIFWIW

You missed one important thing. Tony said DeBord would coach QBs with Sheridan helping.

Many on here asked why Butch was waiting so long to make the hire on Debord. I think we can now see why.

The hire is starting to become public and there's very little complaining. We've been strung out on this hire for long enough that at this point that nobody has anything left to say about it haha

Just thinking out loud here. Let's use a hypothetical and say that Blair still is looking like a bust while Richmond arrives and plays like the five star LT he's supposed to be during fall camp.

2015

LT - Richmond (Fr)
LG - Jackson (rSr)
C - Crowder (rSr)
RG - Robertson (So)
RT - Kerbyson (rSr)

2016

LT - Richmond (So)
LG - Weisman (Sr) OR Boulware (So) OR Stewart (So)
C - C.Thomas (Jr)
RG - Robertson (Jr)
RT - Jones (rFr/So) OR Kendrick (rJr)

Opinions?

If we're starting yet another Freshman, no matter how highly touted or good he is, we're in trouble, again.

While I don't think it will be the strength of the team, I think the OL has the potential to be the most improved unit...but that is heavily reliant upon Blair panning out.

He needs to step up.

FF will have a mini-meltdown.

I'm completely okay with this hire. We were never, never, never going to get a hot name. Not this late in the game and not to run an offense that requires the guy to throw away his own playbook.

It was either an old-timer like DeBord or a very young guy like Sanford.

DeBord is the type of guy who will stick around for years and pretty much run the offense exactly the way Butch wants it.

Not going to jump all over Butch for this one but if DeBord is the main play-caller, you guys will start to understand why a lot of Michigan fans were fed up with him really quickly in 2006

(Good news is that I've seen few indications to him being the only play-caller)

Pretty sure Lloyd Carr was the one hampering Debord. We'll see, but Im certain he coached Woodson to a heisman.

You mean when he wasn't the main play caller?

That's my favorite OL prediction but I just don't see CBJ benching Crowder. No offense, but he was somewhat disappointing last year imo.

I understand your opinion on Crowder, but the line seemed to really suffer when he was out vs. Missouri and Vanderbilt. While I don't think he's the strongest, I think he does a solid job calling the protections.

......can you please point me to an article that shows he wasn't? Because it sounds like the only thing you guys are going off of is the second-hand report about the 2007 Florida-Michigan game.

#Tennessee #Vols to hire Mike DeBord as offensive coordinator, per @RyanBartow: (FREE READ) UT to hire DeBord as offensive coordinator

Pretty much.

It sounds like Butch like a collaborative team effort anyway in gameplan etc. I recall one of the sites saying that Mahoney actually suggested the play call vs UGA on 4th down when we did a flip out to Raijon after faking up the middle

Honestly, this is the main reason I think this might actually be the best hire.

New OC's don't excite me all that much when the coach already said whoever would just be running the current system. So, I don't get too high or low about it.

A few random predictions for 2015:

-We have 4 games on CBS (UGA, Arkansas, UF, Bama) and win 2/4

-We spend at least 8 weeks in the top 25

-Dobbs is a serious contender for the Heisman trophy all season but doesn't win. Enters 2016 as the favorite

-Kamara finishes with more total yards than Hurd

-We have 4 500+ yard receivers in Pearson, North, Pig, and Malone

-Aaron Medley kicks a game winner

-The phrase "Tennessee is back" will be uttered at least once by a commentator during a nationally televised game

If Kamara finishes with more yards than Hurd, he is one and done.

I agree with everything else but switch one of the four receivers with Williams.
