Mahoney is the remaining scapegoat favorite among O coaches. The paid talk notes how much better the O-Line performed once Dobbs took over. DeBord will not be relegated to coach OL only. I am amazed at the magical thinking that sees Mahoney gone that has so much currency on here. Anything could happen but there is not one iota of substantiation to think Mahoney's being let go is in offing.

Debord's expertise is in Tight End and Offensive Line. There is no way Elder is being let go because I think he's our future OC, not Azzani. Elder can coach every position on offense but QB and the Line. Azzani only knows about WRs.

Also, If Azzani leaves, we can either hire the awesome Shawn Jefferson, or we can just move Elder to WRs and let Debord coach TES. There is no lack of WR coaches available.

Azzani and Mahoney are the most replacable coaches on our Staff.

EDIT: The recruit in question is Antonio "Gump" Oliver. Best I can see, he's an unrated DB out of Georgia.

I really wouldn't expect him to say that he has been in contact with CMU, considering he's probably been telling recruits that he wasn't speaking with them. The fact that CMU is waiting until after signing day to hire a coach leads me to believe that Azzani is their guy. I think Azzani and CMU were both doing Butch a favor by waiting until after signing day. I agree with the poster who said Azzani is one of the most replaceable coaches on staff. We won't miss a beat with Gillespie or Thigpen as recruiting coordinator and I don't think Azzani is a great WR coach. He's not bad, but he hasn't impressed me either.

That was the exact point in time I knew it was possible. He had not spoken with them (conversations usually happen through 3rd parties so they can deny).

Additionally, CZA did nothing to assure he would remain at Tennessee. He can honestly tell recruits he has not spoken with CMU.
