Looking more and more like DeBord will be the new OC

Kurt Roper was a big name OC hire? Why in the world was he at Duke then?
If I am not mistaken , Roper was at Duke because he was at Ole Miss on Cutcliffe's staff, and followed Cutcliffe to U.T., as an offensive position coach, then to Duke, where he became o-coord.

The sky is falling people always backtrack and try to explain away their misguided prognostications.

Some people always predict disaster until there is one then they yell about how correct they were.

These highly desirable recruits are still here because whatever news they have about who is coming, doesn't bother them. No matter who it is.

Like that talent has nowhere else to go. smh.

I want a great coach that is a MAGNET for recruits not a REPELLENT! If CBJ holds on this announcement of DeBord until NSD or later then he's a coward for not facing the backlash of this piss poor decision, both with the fanbase and with recruits.

If this hire stands and we aren't in the the hunt for a NC (playing for SEC title/playoff spot) in 2016 then Butch needs to pack his bags.

I can always tell it's going to be a great post when every point has to include an "*if".

But I will pass the message along..

CBJ may simply be waiting on CMU's decision. I did notice CMU interviewed the HC at Ferris State (where Burch played) at the request of Lloyd Carr. Does seem like a very small circle.

Sure many wont be excited when they dont hear a Cumbie or Norvell announced. But I'd be willing to bet if Hurd and Dobbs were to be told that we're gonna bring in a guy that has won an NC as OC, has NFL experience, can bring some much needed physicality to the OL, and will keep this same system that you all are on the verge of blowing up in instead of having to learn a new one, they'd be pretty excited.

Would they be excited about a guy who can help with the OL? Absolutely. So would I. I have no issue with Debord coming in and working with the OL. But if I were a recruit, I would be skeptical about a guy who hasn't called an offensive play in 8 years. One look at that NC year will tell you Debord's offense was paltry. I would be looking around at the top teams in the country and ask myself if Debord is on the same level as their OC's.

So, let me see if I understand your expectations. Butch gets 4 years to win the SEC East, or he needs to be fired. His very first hastily assembled class will be Seniors in 2016.

You give him 4 years to play for the SEC Championship after taking over a program that had not had a winning SEC record in the 5 previous years. Four years after taking over a program that was 2-14 in the SEC in the last 2 seasons before his arrival. You're not expecting too much are you?

Totally agree with all of this.

What if all the OC interviewed did not want the job and DeBord was the only guy that excepted. Would that change anything?

Just stirring the pot (thread) some..

If Debord is hired to give Coach Z time to grow into the position I'll be ok with it. Especially if he turns out to be a good play caller in CBJ's system.

If he does the bandwagon fans will be lovin on Debord.

I suspect this will be the cry of many regardless who Coach Jones hires as OC.

I understand and agree but if DeBord is indeed the new OC then it just heightens those beliefs all the more. That belief is then bolded, underlined and has flashing lights around it due to this hire and will have more people (me included) expecting this to become a reality.

I understand that it's extremely high expectations but I don't think that at least playing for the SEC title in 2016 is too lofty. If it is then those of you who believe so can go jump on Derek Mason's bandwagon with what he's doing at Candy so you can live in Candyland.

I think this is the expectation and no I do not think it is expecting to much. With the recruits he has put together and his "best staff in America" I think in 2016 we darn well better be there. If his decision making undermines his recruiting.... Time to change the management
