Official OC search update thread...

Just an opinion. I haven't found our offense in the "reinventing the wheel" area. He has seen more than his share of FB action but the main thing is - unless he is completely inept, he can follow instruction.

Like Sabans D, with any degree of understanding, you can fill the position and hopefully bring something to the table.

There is an occasional disaster but despite the "oh my gawd" posts here, I don't see a real high probability of that.

The spread option is completely different that the I Formation pro-style offense that DeBord has coached for his entire career. I just want to be sure that I understand - you believe that DeBord "can follow instruction" and run the offense.......

So Jones would have to take his time to instruct DeBord on the principles and concepts of his offense and then DeBord is supposed to then instruct the players on the offensive side of the ball???? Hmmm... The most effective coaching comes from coaches that 1) know their offensive philosophy, scheme, and play book intimately and 2) are effective communicators-teachers of the game.

DeBord may be and effective communicator however the fact that it has been almost a decade since he has served as an OC makes many question whether he would be an effective coordinator. Moreover, the fact that he has not coached nor recruited in college for 7 years begs the question of whether he can still recruit in the young man's game of recruiting. NFL personnel decisions are completely different than the college method of player acquisition.

Honestly charger , just having fun . we will do better than 6-6 and barely squeaking out a bowl . I don't care if Butch is the hc and the oc . Their is a lot of talent now that was not there during the past few seasons .

So, you think Butch may go the Derek Mason route?

Gotcha. Your opinion differs. Noted.

I'll save you a little time here. I have heard and read the opinions on both sides and made up my own mind.

All of the childish "HMMM"s in the world will not influence me.

Glad I'm not the only one irritated by the hmmmmms.
Every time I read a post with them in it all I can hear is my mother-in-law.
I do not care for my mother-in-law.
No sir.
I do not.

Now these are words I live by.
I still have some minor irritations with my own mother, much less my wifes.

FWIW - there was one hmmmmmm not a world of hmmmmmmmms......

My point is that there are other coaches that Jones could hire (and hopefully may hire) that know, understand and can effectively coach/teach Jones' (Rich Rod's) offense, that can and have been recruiting like mad men and are "current and relevant" but it appears that Jones wants a comfortable hire.

Maybe he is a control freak and just wants somebody that falls in line.... I'm not supporting the hire, I just don't care as long as 'his way' ends with wins.

Well, I tend to agree with you but there's really nothing I can do about it. I guess if it bothered me enough I could just stop being a Vol fan, but that isn't possible. The Orange runs too deep. So, I guess I'll just roll with the punches the way I have for over thirty years and hope for the best.

LMAO when you can Vol or nuttin an paterick ET AL in one thread It was never official , But the odds of hilarity are HIGH .
