Looking more and more like DeBord will be the new OC

If it is Debord, who will coach QBs? Debord has traditionally coached OL and TEs. We already have position coaches at those positions. Would Butch let CZA coach QBs as well as WRs to keep him in the fold by giving him more responsibility?

I think he either lets DeBord coach them or brings in a QC to help out there. Either way it's a scary unknown.

I'm not defending DeBord, I just wonder how many of those bashing him, and pitching a fit could honestly do it without the use of Google, or his wiki page.

I was a bartender about 17 years ago and a pretty good one, I might add. If you were opening a club today in a highly competitive market, would you want me behind the bar or the flashy guy that has been doing the job the past few years and every other club has been after?

What Butch is preaching about challenging him and making the staff better does not compute to hiring DeBord. You don't make yourself better at your job by surrounding yourself with people you've already worked with in the last. Hopefully you've learned from them already and are looking to expand your knowledge by working with other people who have fresh ideas. This hire screams complacency not innovation.

If you bought a club and had been establishing your customer base for two years, would you want to bring in a hot shot who wanted to do things his way, or would you want somebody that could continue what was already started?

Clubs usually appeal to young people (recruits). Do you think these young people flock to a club that has been a hot spot for two years once they find out an old fart like me (DeBord) is behind the bar?

Butch now reminds me of Fulmer in his younger days. Full of fire, recruiting well, coaching staff stability. That worked pretty well for him. With that said, I trust Butch to make the right hire. DeBord or whomever.

Using that information is the basis for judging him. Why would you NOT use information from those sources? Is there another super secret source of information on Debord's career?

I was saying I'd put money on the fact there are some complaining about his play calling who have never watched a game he called.

Valid point.

Scenario 2: You purchase a restaurant that was very successful at one time, until the owner started cutting corners. You bring in all new management including a new head chef, and new head bartender. You revamp the menu, workout all the bugs with your suppliers, and in two years you're the hot new place with tons of positive feedback. Then your head chef takes a job in another city. Are you gonna hire a chef who is willing to maintain your menu and keep your signature dishes that customers keep coming back for? Or are you going to hire a new hot shot chef who will want to come in and put his own spin on everything, which may have been appropriate had you not had recent success?

(Please note I let you keep your job as head bartender. :) )

It's DeBord and has been DeBord before he ever left for Cali. All this talk of interviews is just made to look like he's doing his due diligence. Nothing will be announced till after signing to keep damage to a minimum. This all just my opinion.

Don't think its Debord. If what Tony B said is true the higher ups are making it known to go a different route. Not to mention he is supposedly thinking over a chance to coach for the Falcons. And if a kid is waiting to see who he hires they dont have to sign on signing day and can push back their decision. Also we wouldn't have a QB Coach so I could see him in somekind of Quality Control position if he does end up here or they push Mahoney out of the door. But no chance they hire just Debord..Having a QB Coach is very important and we all know how RB's were those yrs we didn't have a true RB Coach and QB Coach is even more important.

I can guarantee they don't let Debord coach QB's. We have too much youth at QB to have a guy who has never coached QB's or a QC coach doing it. I see no way Butch doesn't have a QB Coach, especially with Dobbs having a long way to go in developing then three True FR behind him.

True but Fulmer had a better coaching than what Butch currently has.

All valid points but I don't think Basilio knows anymore than you or I do. Don't think Butch is being limited in who he can hire. Too many contradictory reports out. "Money is not an issue" but Norvell is no longer being considered because he makes 900k. Its Butch's decision. It's his neck on the line.
