Stay with me here.

I think the longer this hire takes (past NSD) the more likely there is going to be a pretty significant offensive staff shake up.

Let's say we bring in a guy like Matt Canada (my favorite for a while now) and make him OC and QB's coach. I think it is very likely after that Azzani decides to take the CMU job and takes Mahoney with him.

Then Butch brings Debord in as the OL coach and Canada brings over his WR coach from NC St. or someone else he'd like to have on staff.

You wait till after NSD to not rattle any cages with recruiting at our school or at the school the OC is coming from.

Any thoughts that something like this could go down? Or is everyone still thinking Debord and everyone stays pat?

Would be ideal...

If I am CZA and am offered the CM job, I want to know Butch's intentions right then. I would not want to wait till after NSD as turning my focus to the CM roster asap would be very important with NSD approaching. Jmo

If I'm CZA and am offered the CM job, I'm out the door before I hang up the phone. As a wide receivers coach, that would be a home run job for him at this point, imo.

depends on cash IMO. All of them are about 1 year away from top dollar.

I just don't see Azzanni getting an HC opporutnity any time soon. Not a knock on him, but his ties to CMU and Butch Jones are the only reason his name is in the hat now.

While I agree and could understand him jumping immediately at that offer, maybe he would be worried that he is not prepared to make that big of a jump just yet. A complete failure at your 1st HC gig doesn't look good on the resume. Big risk, big reward.

I'd say there have been some hints that a more major staff shakeup could be happening especially if it drags out that long. The experience of Debord as an Oline coach is pretty evident, the fact that he is still around in some role is also curious. I think he will in some way have a place on the team going forward maybe as OC maybe as Oline, in either scenario we have to get someone to coach QBs and in either scenario Mahoney becomes more dispensable IMO.

Most coaches have a pretty high opinion of their ability, but certainly if he doesn't believe he's qualified then that's another story. I guess my point is if CZA wants to be a head coach any time soon and is offered the CMU job, he should jump at the opportunity. IMO.

I wonder if Butch is thinking of waiting until NSD to see how the CM job shakes out so he knows how to piece his staff together if he were to lose any guys.

The one thing that doesn't make sense to me about Debord is no QB coaching specific experience. I know he had something to do with those guys at QB being the OC but you need a QB coach full time title guy on staff. Not just a GA even if that GA is as experienced as Sheridan is. Sheridan needs to be a full time guy or good luck in recruiting future QBs without a position coach

I agree. IMO even if it was a little less money, if you want that HC on your resume you take the opportunity to do it.

If this goes another week, or past NSD, then there is no way it is DeBord. There is no benefit to waiting to announce him after NSD, if he is the man.

If he is not the man, than there are other considerations.

Unless Butch is worried about losing a recruit based on the hire of Debord.

Smokey. There is usually a check box next to the user name and password in the mobile version that should keep you logged in. It will log you out if you clear you cookies though. Hope that helps.

Also was dude serious a couple pages back about Chavis coaching and watching film with Peyton? Did I miss something?

I have seen in the past where Peyton said he watched film with Chavis before and "picked" his brain as to what he was thinking in certain situations or on some plays. Just Peyton being thorough. Why he is the best or certainly in the top 2 or 3 to ever play the game at his position.

You've applied way to much common sense for us to understand. We have the confusions. :)

A lot of chatter I'm hearing about Clay Helton.

Clay Helton also has familiarity in TN and as he coached in Memphis for 10 years. First, as their RB's coach for 3 years and then 7 years as their OC and QB's coach. He has a tons of ties with Memphis and Nashville High Schools in recruiting as well.
