Makes the most sense all things considered. UT isn't going to pay their OC /DC a million a year at this point.

While I agree with you, I would think that now more than ever would be ideal time to squeeze that money out of donors. With the talent here and coming in plus the rest of the east being in flux, Hart could say we are on the cusp of great things but we need pay our OCs like the rest of the SEC. Everyone is so starved for a championship, I think they would donate the money.

Needs a Dooley exception.

Dooley hire

"Who?"

"I hate this hire and Mike Hamilton"

Press conference. ..

"I can get with any coach who uses the phrase britches"

"The anti Kiffin"

"He will fit in here"

LSU game. ..

"He went toe to toe in Death Valley"

"We got a good one"

Kentucky game year 2 (or 1 if you're Dooley)...

"I hate that guy"

"Just lost to a team using a WR at QB"

I'm not making fun of anyone. These were my thoughts and emotions about him.

We are a very loyal group of fans. We may question apparently stupid hires but will get behind them for the love of all things UT.

I'm guilty as anyone

You bring up a good point. I think there's a difference for most of us between supporting a hire unconditionally and supporting a coach one he's hired.

This is exactly the truth. I couldn't be less impressed with Debord. But if Butch decides that is the way to go, then I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and get behind him. If proves my misgivings false, the I'll eat my crow. If he ends up being less than impressive, I'll voice my displeasure. Until it's obviously proven to be a mistake, I'll be full Debord. Still holding out hope it's not him though.

Spoke with Butch very briefly today, and he declined to reveal much other than to say, "Tennessee has some really good choices, and it's a chance to get better. This is an exciting challenge."

Jones did not indicate a timeline of wrapping up on Wednesday was very likely, but did stress this process has been good for him to have "crystalized" what the Vols need in this move, what they must do to keep improving and how they must address deficiencies to improve.

He called it a "difficult choice" with a demand to get better and reiterated he likes the opportunity to challenge everyone to improve. He was expected to continue deliberating candidates with an inner circle while UT tries to continue with business as usual both on the road recruiting and for a big recruiting weekend coming up.

Continue to hear that Zach Azzanni remains on the CMU list but not necessarily at the top right now. Still in play.

As some of the major moves in college football shake out, such as the Vols' offensive coordinator opening, and other staffs begin to be finalized, it's the time also when Tennessee's quality control and graduate assistant coaches have potential opportunities at other spots.

If Z happened to gain the CMU job, he almost certainly would take some folks from UT with him. Additionally, it's been indicated some of those guys still could have opportunities at CMU or other similar spots in the coming days and weeks. - John Brice

They won't do it because it would require an increase of all of our coaching staff. Specifically Jancek. Our guys are certainly inline with national averages but when you start factoring in rockstar coordinator salaries we are paying half what some places are.

Good thoughts and points. Most if not all of us want "our guys" to be the "right guys" because the alternatives really suck. I agree with both your points because persepctives change as a guy goes from candidate to hire.

Debord as a coach recruited and partially coached Steve Hutchinson and assisted in coaching Adam Kraus and Jake Long. Kraus was quoted saying that Debord saved his career with the ZBS scheme.

Debord can coach our line up to be supermen.

A good comparison for Zach Stewart would be Steve Hutchinson.

I previously posted an article that cited 2007 DeBord brought in Atlanta Falcons coach as consultant for Michigan switching to ZBS. He did so because their linemen were smallish and that same offseason they focused on speed. It shows me he's at least flexible to new ideas. That was one year though and it was 8 years ago.

I guess the mobile version hates me then...

but I use it anyway. :)

Smokey. There is usually a check box next to the user name and password in the mobile version that should keep you logged in. It will log you out if you clear you cookies though. Hope that helps.

Also was dude serious a couple pages back about Chavis coaching and watching film with Peyton? Did I miss something?

If the future HC did end up getting CDM to head over to CMU, I'd be okay with that. It would let DeBord get to be OL/OC which appears to be his area of expertise. Plus, it would allow Tennessee to fill a full-time QB coaching position. With all of the talk about some of Tennessee's staff potentially having opportunities to go to CMU, I think those in the know may be hinting the CDM may be given an opportunity to get a better title at another school. This would allow him to save face and give CBJ the opportunity to improve our OL because something just never clicked with the OL until the bowl this past year.

I would be quite disappointed if the coaching search at CMU in anyway tempted Coach Strip to leave. He is absolutely a person this staff needs to keep. He's been huge in coaching up the DL. The improvement for those players has been incredible.

You're checking the "stay logged in" box? Using Safari browser?

I upgraded to a 6 from a 4, I had problems with being logged out on the 4 it also eventually wouldn't allow me to log back in. With the 6 everything works fine.

I would say less likely. I think Tennessee only has room for one more right now and I think they'd like to know who that was going to be before signing day.

PF On if we'd wait till after signing day for Drew Richmond.

I think if we can't wrap him up this weekend we press for a commitment from either Pat Allen or Quart'e Sapp.
