Butch does not have an obligation to the fanbase to hire an OC of our choosing. Butch does have an obligation to the fanbase to win games. If his OC flops and we have a poor year next year, fans have every right to question his decision making. Like it or not, Butch has a job at UT because a fanbase exists. If football didn't make money for UT, there wouldn't be a program.

As many are fond of saying, college football is a business.

I agree if the hire equates to losing its on Butch. I'm going to wait for that to happen before questioning the hire.

Was trying to be funny. But In seriousness though. His "insider" knowledge seems to me to be a lot of throwing mud on the wall. And I personally haven't listened to him in years. Was and am not a fan. But I know some are.

JMO, I think DeBord might be able to help our offense but I am not sure it would be as OC. I think we need someone who can help develop our QBs and that's why I would be concerned if Debord were hired as OC.

I didn't second guess with the defense coming in because they had SEC experience. I felt more comfortable with that. And I don't care what Georgia fans think because that's been the most inept team playing the last decade. The offensive side is what worried me the most. Granted with the mess left behind, I didn't see how this new offense was going to work with the coaches brought in and players. Hiring RG has been the best fit on offense so far. In 2 years the defense has far exceeded than expected especially after the Sunseri debacle. It has "taken off". So if DeBord is brought in, who hasn't done anything in years, it is a concern until proven wrong. Hopefully. I don't have the confidence in the offense, just yet...

This is JMO, but I would think that someone of Debord's experience level (having witnessed the dawn of college football) should be able to understand just about any kind of offensive scheme thrown at him. :hi:

To watch the meltdown I suppose. Derrick Dillon is pretty much the top rated recruit they have left. May switch to LSU now. Still rated 99th on rivals despite two commitments the last two days.

Ultimately, it should be Butch's decision to make(Hart should stay out of it except for when it comes to money). He's the coach. You let him succeed or fail on his terms. I think it perfectly natural that VN question the idea of DeBord given his recent history, and I think it perfectly natural that VN thinks we should be able to do better. But, Butch has to put together a staff that works for him. Chemistry is an important thing. In-fighting among coaches will only make the program self-destruct.

Whatever happens, we as a fanbase need to be patient and see how it works out next season. If it succeeds, we look like idiots for all the belly-aching. If it fails, Butch is on the hot seat.

But should he be swayed based off of what fans think. Not saying you but it seems a lot of fans are acting like they know what's a good hire versus a bad one. Do we really know what type of coach Debord would be in Butch's offense?

Hahaha. I know that. I got the joke. I was saying in general, when someone posts something and attributes the info to Basilio as the source, I typically discard it as unreliable.

Anyways, don't wanna go back and forth about it, just wanna move on.

PS. I don't know who's a true insider anymore when it comes to specifics. I have family there and hell even they're wrong half the time. With Tony I don't know if it's him making it up or true sources. But I see your point. Not trying to argue.
