Does Butch have an obligation to hire an OC based off of what the fanbase wants? Should the fanbase even be considered? I wonder, because that whole Peterman should start against Florida debacle was fan motivated and that didn't turn out so damn well.
Butch does not have an obligation to the fanbase to hire an OC of our choosing. Butch does have an obligation to the fanbase to win games. If his OC flops and we have a poor year next year, fans have every right to question his decision making. Like it or not, Butch has a job at UT because a fanbase exists. If football didn't make money for UT, there wouldn't be a program.
As many are fond of saying, college football is a business.
Touché. Ha.
Was trying to be funny. But In seriousness though. His "insider" knowledge seems to me to be a lot of throwing mud on the wall. And I personally haven't listened to him in years. Was and am not a fan. But I know some are.
True...but that defense that has "taken off"? Is headed by a man whose hiring has been second guessed more than any I can recall ...fueled by Georgia fans mocking us, many on here were incessant about how we weren't going anywhere with him as the architect of our defense...does that opinion still prevail? Butch has a vested interest in the success of this hire...trust him to know that.
Read the article. No mention of the style of offense DeBord is familiar with. We've all read where Butch has said he wasn't going to overhaul his system, but the question still exists if DeBord has ever ran an offense like Butch's.

Ultimately, it should be Butch's decision to make(Hart should stay out of it except for when it comes to money). He's the coach. You let him succeed or fail on his terms. I think it perfectly natural that VN question the idea of DeBord given his recent history, and I think it perfectly natural that VN thinks we should be able to do better. But, Butch has to put together a staff that works for him. Chemistry is an important thing. In-fighting among coaches will only make the program self-destruct.
Whatever happens, we as a fanbase need to be patient and see how it works out next season. If it succeeds, we look like idiots for all the belly-aching. If it fails, Butch is on the hot seat.
The text was a joke it wasn't insider information. He used a telegram to contact recruits instead of modern technology? Read it again.
Hahaha. I know that. I got the joke. I was saying in general, when someone posts something and attributes the info to Basilio as the source, I typically discard it as unreliable.
I am just ready for Butch to make a hire one way or the other. Seems like there are many many pages of the same stuff over and over:
Debord is disappointing
Debord comes recommended
There are better options.
Trust Butch
What about this awesome spread OC
Butch has earned trust
Insider says this. Insider says that
Maybe he will just be quality control
Maybe he will be great. Just wait on it.
Etc...
