It's true. It's the world of extremes that are so confusing and somewhat frustrating about Butch though. Is Debord really going to do what his former protege says with no question? More importantly if we lose Azzani that's a serious loss just to get a lackey. Also wth does Debord know about mobile QB's? This will be negative recruiting bonanza. Next years results will play a big impact on how this tightens up or unravels.
It's true he had a decent record. Built largely on fantastic defense. They had a lot of squeekers with less talented squads. His offense was not dynamic but they played solid in other phases. In that regard the way our defensive front is shaping up you could get a HS water boy and have some success. The only way this makes sense is Butch is hell bent on the playbook being identical and Debord has agreed to run some script without putting his own influence on it because he is a run 1st guy but not QB runs.
I don't know... the magic of that team has been the defense, especially the DL.
With their poor recruiting, the fall may be on the horizon.
It seems we will have a fantastic D and look how many recruits we had last cycle that were on D. If we have a fantastic D and go 52-11 over the next few years, I could live with that. CBJ has a good coaching record. O looks good but D wins championships in my book.
Honestly i don't know about CZA leaving but as far as recruiting goes i highly doubt it would chg much. What ppl don't know is P. Will is here not for Z but Swain. Swain found him before he blew up and he has loved UT every since. On the OC and Debord stuff. Anthony Parker is out as 1 of the quality control guys and I've heard that's what his role will be. He will assist with OL. Players and others have complained about Mahoney and he's really not got it done recruiting wise either. I'm suppose to hear from about 2 or 3 ppl tomorrow and I'll update once i get my calls.
I really don't disagree but don't tell us you are flattered by interest and them immediately hire a guy because he gave you a shot and interview everyone else at their local Denny's.
Agreed.I was dead serious when I brought up ButchBot 3000 a few months ago.
His work with the press is exactly how Jacket described it. Anyone that gets huffy and takes offense, or laps it up like a dog is nuts. It's spin, branding, whatever you want to call it and I'm fine with that. It's not for me 99% of the time.
The clichés and constant coach speak may be annoying, but they appear to work, so cheese it up for all I care.

I've said all along that if Butch gives up football, he's got a bright future in politics. I've never seen a coach spew more ish and it get lapped up by so many. I'm like you, it doesn't bother me. As long as it's working, spew away.
Maybe when Butch Jones said he was "humbled" by the calls he got about the OC position, he was being sincere.
I say that because 99% of the time people in athletics misuse the word humble. They usually mean to say flattered. Humbled implies the direct opposite of what most people are trying to say.
Well, maybe he really meant humbled. Humbled meaning that literally no one worth a damn called so he settled for DeBord, because that would be truely humbling.
