People are tired of getting pushed around and backed into a corner. The police don't realize this, apparently, but they are becoming more of an intrusion into our lives than a benefit in most cases when they pull nit-picky stunts like pulling over jaywalkers and drivers going 40 mph. I think we have reached "peak laws" in regards to the number of laws that need to be enforced in this country before you start to see more push back from the people. These clowns (the driver and cops alike) turned a simple pullover into a high speed chase and ended with guns drawn... all the while speeding down this same street that was marked at 25 mph limit. How many lives were put in jeopardy to get this one traffic violator off the streets?
Good lord. All that for doing 39 in a 25. Gotta love those quotas.
So the years that your local city/county gets a boost in traffic tickets, do they mail you a tax refund?I love those "quotas" because they aren't hard to fill apparently. So the city gets revenue from people breaking the law, and I don't have to pay higher property taxes. If people weren't stoopid... and obey the law... then I would have to pay higher taxes. Speed on!! and I thank you.
tyranny? really?
From Merriam-Webster
Tyranny:
1: oppressive power <every form of tyranny over the mind of man Thomas Jefferson>; especially : oppressive power exerted by government <the tyranny of a police state>
2 a: a government in which absolute power is vested in a single ruler; especially : one characteristic of an ancient Greek city-state
b : the office, authority, and administration of a tyrant
3: a rigorous condition imposed by some outside agency or force <living under the tyranny of the clock Dixon Wecter>
4: an oppressive, harsh, or unjust act : a tyrannical act <workers who had suffered tyrannies>
The majority of traffic violators don't act irrational and incapable of self control. How was the cop supposed to know he was pulling over a mentally irregular?

Im not writing any summonses. Do you think Im going to stand there so someone can shoot me or hit me in the head with an ax? One cop said Sunday, referring to the Dec. 20 slayings and another recent attack on the NYPD.
Im concerned about my safety, the cop added. I want to go to home to my wife and kids.
An NYPD supervisor noted, My guys are writing almost no summonses, and probably only making arrests when they have to like when a store catches a shoplifter.
Well, at least you didn't use wikipedia... but a speeding ticket hardly qualifies as tyranny. If it does to you, you really are a *****.
First, I never said that a speeding ticket in and of itself is tyranny. The post you quoted referenced multiple forms of petty non-violent violations that are enforced as though they are serious.
Second, Can you not present your side of any argument without hurling an insult?
I just don't see how society is substantially benefited by pulling over cars a lot of these speeders when you could have somebody react this way. I'm looking out for the cops' safety, also. Why put these cops in a situation where they can catch somebody on a bad day or that is going thru something and they push that person over the edge with a nit-picky rolling stop or speeding violation? You create unnecessarily stressful situations for the cops and the public because you could end up with a high speed chase or a shootout that started over something trivial.
Hell, even the NYC cops that went on their little 2 week protest said their job was much easier and better without having to be so aggressive.

Using that line of thinking, how many more violations could you pick up just scanning cellphone calls or doing random door-to-door searches of homes?
How about people don't break the law and cops can't pull them over?
Seems like the easiest solution.
Back in this thread, people were suggesting not to argue with the cops during a routine traffic stop. Here's a good reason why:

Watch the video and you'll see how playing the race card is now a huge part in even the most minor infractions.
