Official OC search update thread...

I've got to say, if I was Azzanni and they hired a high school coach over me, I'd be gone in a New York minute.

I don't care how great he is at a high school level, it doesn't mean squat in Division 1 ball. And before anyone pulls the Malzahn card, he was an anomaly. You could take a thousand high school coaches and put them into a P5 OC position and I'd bet 998 of them couldn't perform at that level.

Either way, if Azzani is good enough to be considered as a HC at a smaller school, he's certainly good enough to be considered for the OC position over a high school coach. And if they hired over me like that, there is no way I would stick around.

Can anybody else on staff coach QB's? If so, I like the Herb Hand idea. Accomplish a couple goals in one. First, you give the middle finger to Jimmy boy, and second you get a guy that can help shore up our offensive line issues.

1. Line issues were a talent issue in large part. 2. You hire a line coach to shore up line issues, an OC job is much more complicated.

I'm not sure if you are aware of this, but Coordinators and Head Coaches are not the same thing. You can be a great Coordinator and a bad Head Coach, and perhaps vice versa.

I don't give a d*mn about a Coordinators HC record. I want to know how they did in the job that we are hiring them for.

I think Napier would be the best hire. I top notch recruiter and OC experience.

I agree after looking at his profile on Bama's website. Does anyone know if he is the son of former Coach Bill Napier of Murray County HS, GA?

It says he is from Chatsworth, GA, where Murray County is. If so, I grew up not far from there and his dad was my Drivers Ed teacher in HS.

Just out of curiousity, are you suggesting that guys like Muschamp and Chizik should not be hired as coordinators?

Some people believe they are "home run" coordinators but pretty terrible head coaches.
