Question. How in the crap did we lose to Bama this year?

1. 5-3 in the SEC is average for top programs

2. Tennessee didn't win 9 games on a schedule with 10 bowl teams. Tennessee won 9 games on a schedule that included 9 bowl teams. Against those 9 bowl teams, Tennessee was 5-4. Brag about a win over Southern Miss. Don't forget 2 of the losses were against 6-6 Cal and 6-6 Alabama.

3. So you're saying bad teams give up? Notre Dame didn't give up this year. Tons of BAD teams play hard through the final whistle.

1) The 2001 LSU team won the title.... care to explain to me how they were average? Maybe they were average compared to us but the won.

2) Is Wisconsin not a bowl team? So that means that yes we will have won at least 9 games this year.

3) Yes.... all teams that give up are bad teams... all teams that are bad dont necessarily give up.

Vol423 did your comment really make you laugh as hard as the emoticon? You should probably read more if so.

The funny thing was, before the LSU game, nobody thought we improved. The LSU game is carrying a lot of weight with CovVol. The reason we seemed improved in the regular season was because S. Carolina, Arkansas, Vandy, and Kentucky was an easier road than Cal, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.
If we were a good team we would have beat LSU that day.

either way, we benefitted far more from weaker schedule late than we did from our improvements. Our D is better to some degree, but our D line is still a disaster and D starts there. It was exposed in every game, even to the end (most of all in the SC and KY games where they killed us in the second half)

I agree and that's something that needs more improvement next year.

There is pobably some truth to that. An SEC win is an SEC win, but there's no doubt that our schedule was loaded early.

Our schedule is ALWAYS loaded early with the exception of playing Florida the last game of the year in 04' I think. Our first 9 games next year are probably the most brutal we have had in a while.

1. We all agree LSU shouldn't have stayed within 2 TDs of that 2001 UT team.

2. Even though you won't admit it, you were trying to say our schedule to date had 10 bowl teams on it.

3. Thank you.

If you line me up against 4 girls who are 10s and then line me up against 4 girls who are 7s, wouldn't you expect my success rate to jump?

you don't think we gave up against UF and AL? I thought we completely quit in each 4th Quarter.

It was obvious we gave up in both of those games. Remember "don't block me, I'm not even going to try man."?

But anyone trying to argue that Tennessee is Alabamas whipping post has started drinking too early or is over 90 years old and unable to remember the last 10 years.

We did start. Do you know remember how promising it looked?

Then they started and we stopped.

that is the gist of what we were saying to him. He annoyed me so badly that I got myself a frickin' warning.

are you a closet bama fan?

no, i hate Tide football and KY basketball. i wouldn't bet on either of them to save my life. historically, bama has dominated us, however you want to slice it it comes out the same.

for us to lose two out of the past three against bama with the shape their program has been in lately is indefensible. if we ever own the series record against them in the future, i will take heart again, but i am not wasting time defending UT football against them until we do.

Average teams dont make it to the SECCG.

Average teams do not win 9 games with a schedule that includes 10 bowl teams on it.

Average teams would have given up after that dismal performance against Bammer.

Good teams win championships.

Good teams don't let 6-6 teams beat them by more than a touchdown.

Rockydoc, your posts are worthless. If you said Florida or Auburn; I would agree. Saying Alabama "owns" Tennessee negates any intelligent posts you may have previously had.

good teams also lose championships - it's why they play the games.

point #2 there is no refuting (much less several touchdowns)

Not really. We were down 15 and Florida was driving deep into UT territory for another score before Berry's pick 6.

The game was never really that close. The Vols had the momentum for a few minutes, but Arian's fumble put an end to that.
