Question. How in the crap did we lose to Bama this year?

You lost to us this year because you were outcoached. Just like you will be next year.

Keep that thought process up. Did you watch the game last night? Colorado is terrible, and Alabama was playing well for Alabama.
I can't wait for next year.

Not bad...average. Average to me is not good. It is just average.

Average teams dont make it to the SECCG.

Average teams do not win 9 games with a schedule that includes 10 bowl teams on it.

Average teams would have given up after that dismal performance against Bammer.

No... last post and I swear Im leaving... man I got stuff I got to do today...cut it out guys!!!!

A team that was not very good would have showed up and laid an egg in the SECCG. We could argue this till kingdom come but to say that we are not good is silly and this is my orignaly post as far as this line of conversation goes:

The last 2 statements are fact and I just dont see how you cant see us as a bad team after those 2 are proven.

Covvol,

How you could possibly look at the South Carolina, Vanderbilt and Kentucky games (which were all after the Alabama game) and conclude that that either a) UT has improved since the Bama game, or b) UT is a good team, is beyond me.

No no no. In a 22 year period, they won 18. That's the biggest it was.

your right old timer's diease. went to the media guide after statement. I just know how miserable it was during that period. Too early to drink....

LSU 2001

64 teams make bowls now

Not true

I love Covvol's statement about us playing 10 bowl teams, like that means anything these days. I'm surprised one of these toilet bowls didn't try to sneak a bowl bid through to Notre Dame!

1)Oh.... that team that bombed Illinois in the Sugar Bowl and finished 10-3.... yeah they were average.

2) Still has a winning record, which .500 by definition is average

3) The "I say so so it must be" argument.... nice.

Deer in the Headlight Look.

most of you seem to forget in a 25 year period they beat us 22 or 21 times. 30 year period it was 26 times.
and Army dominated the 40s, yet own noone today. Bear's tenure has officially reached the point of irrelevance outside of the AL state lines.

Yes. You add to the argument that UT has improved since the Bama game, and you offer as proof the fact that we beat Vanderbilt as a result of them shanking the winning field goal as time expires. :eek:lol:Thanks for contributing so much to the conversation.

I generally agree that we've really not improved that much, but a 49 yarder that glances off of an upright is hardly a shank.

1. 5-3 in the SEC is average for top programs

2. Tennessee didn't win 9 games on a schedule with 10 bowl teams. Tennessee won 9 games on a schedule that included 9 bowl teams. Against those 9 bowl teams, Tennessee was 5-4. Brag about a win over Southern Miss. Don't forget 2 of the losses were against 6-6 Cal and 6-6 Alabama.

3. So you're saying bad teams give up? Notre Dame didn't give up this year. Tons of BAD teams play hard through the final whistle.

either way, we benefitted far more from weaker schedule late than we did from our improvements. Our D is better to some degree, but our D line is still a disaster and D starts there. It was exposed in every game, even to the end (most of all in the SC and KY games where they killed us in the second half)

The funny thing was, before the LSU game, nobody thought we improved. The LSU game is carrying a lot of weight with CovVol. The reason we seemed improved in the regular season was because S. Carolina, Arkansas, Vandy, and Kentucky was an easier road than Cal, Florida, Georgia, and Alabama.

There is pobably some truth to that. An SEC win is an SEC win, but there's no doubt that our schedule was loaded early.
