Southern Miss Self Imposes Ban

Hyams: Forde said the USM self-imposed postseason ban `should be extremely damaging’ for UT coach Donnie Tyndall. `That’s strike 2,’ Forde said.
Listened to the blip on this. I think this guy is totally blowing smoke. Seems to me like he has an agenda against Tyndall or Tennessee, one or the other. There is absolutely nothing to support his opinion of strike 2. In my opinion, as you know, Coach T is going to get a base on balls.

Wiedmer: Southern Miss woes bad news for UT's Tyndall | Local News | Times Free Pressiedmer's take on USM's ban. Referring to CDT as the "Bellicheat of college basketball" was a little harsh imo. But again, he's only in a position to speculate...just like the rest of us.
This is a total hit piece on Tyndall based on nothing. VolNation should boycott the joker! I'm beginning to wonder if there is a conspiracy among the Tyndall haters. The reporter who broke the initial story has not been heard from again for two months because his story was totally disproven. Just wait and see. Nothing will be done to Donnie Tyndall. No suspension. Nothing!

I don't really see any kind of suspension happening. The only things that could happen is reduction of scholarships or no off campus recruiting for a short period of time, imo.

I sincerely hope you're correct!

It is my understanding that the NCAA cannot punish UT directly (loss of scholarships, post-season ban, etc) and can only punish CDT (recruiting restrictions, suspension, show cause, etc). Obviously, those punishments can directly and negatively affect UT.

Just saw where Bellicheck publicly denied any knowledge of the deflated balls. Unless there are pics of him watching over the ball-boy using the needle...it's his word against anybody else's. His job is coaching, after all...not kit manager.

MmmmMMmm. Plausible deniability. Works for me.

Not sure how you can say anything has been totally disproven (or proven).

If anything, the exit (dismissal?) of his two assistants and the announced ban point to there being a story. I wish the best for CDT but it's obvious something went off the rails in his two years in Hattiesburg.

I'd settle for a suspension of 2 preseason exhibition games.

Dave Hart said publicly that UT was not expecting a Notice of Allegations. I would say he knows every detail.

Why WOULD UT receive an NOA on a USM matter? I think DH meant USM will get a NOA because the NCAA is investigating them...not us.

Then if we lose, we will have to hear about it for yrs how we lost the exhibition game.

I like Cal's latest idea on exhibition games.
Play a Duke or Kansas instead of a d2. find out what you got early.

He might, but if SD truly believes things just because they publicly say it, he's still naive.
I believe Donnie because he's a Christian and he says, don't worry everything will be find. If that's naive or coach speak as some call it, then I am naive. I also believe the whole thing was a witch hunt by the coach he fired, his buddy the reporter trying to break a big story who hasn't said one word since, and the NCAA investigator who worked four years with the source and was a good friend. The very first thing Coach T's lawyer did was say they would go straight after this conflict of interest and magically the original charges disappeared.

That's pretty much the textbook definition of "naive"
I might also add that as a scientist, I specialize in analyzing data. And all of the data that I have plugged into the formula says that Donnie Tyndall walks free with nary a blemish from the NCAA.
