'15 TN DE Kyle Phillips (UT commit 1/3/15)

Better pass rusher right now? No. Better all around player? Yea, forsure. Barnett will end up being way better than Maggit, but Maggit is d@@@ near unblockable at times. Both Barnett and Maggit help each other out, but Maggit's swim move is near unstoppable. Barnett is playing on talent alone right now. Wait until he learns great technique.

I agree to an extent. Barnett is usually going against the best pass blocker on the OL too. He killed Tunsil for Ole Miss in a matchup versus an elite OT that didn't hold all game.

Did pretty well against Iowa's Scherff as well. I love Barnett. He's unreal for a freshman, but Maggit is a little more polished around the edges right now. Maggit has a big heart. He plays really hard, and he's the leader of our defense.

Iowa guy is getting away with holding based on reputation. Iowa also rolled away from Barnett. Even when he switched sides.

I felt like Maggit was getting into the back field whenever he wanted. Best I've seen us play all year.

Maggitt was the one getting screwed on the holding all game long IMO, I want to see him coming off the edge every single down next year. Jrm, Bates, Weatherd and co can handle the olb spots.

Let me get this straight, you want to move the best pass rusher on this team back to SLB, after he had a career year at DE might I add, to allow room to start a true freshman at DE? Have you guys not learned anything over the last 6-7 years? Starting freshman isn't a recipe for success in the SEC. Guys like Barnett are anomalies. Phillips will play, but he won't start unless injuries occur. In the 4-3 JRM, Bryant/Kirkland/Bynum, Weatherd/Bates will be starting at LB. Maggit is staying at DE.
FWIW they used Maggit at OLB in the bowl game quite a bit and he was just as effective when moved around.

Edit: All I'm saying is that I think against teams using a lot of the power run game with multiple TEs, standing Maggit up occasionally can be a good move for us.

He's always going to stand up some, but he's strickly 90%+ plus the time a pass rusher now. Being a SLB requires a lot more than just being a pass rusher, as I'm sure everyone on here is well aware. I'd leave the SLB position to Weatherd/Bates.

I remember the feeling of arriving on campus there for the first time. After my family left it was a pretty "whoa" kind of moment.

Eat it up, Kyle. There's no do over. Loved every minute of it.

My parents dropped me off in Knoxville and pulled away crying. My roommate and I went straight to a party lol
