'15 TN OT Drew Richmond (Former Ole Miss commit)

If we can get him back on campus with a sliver of a chance to sign him-DO IT. The risk that Richmond's recruiting prowess is so powerful that he is going to turn another prospect vs getting a much needed OT is very small. I have heard he likes the Vols, but distance and local pressures influenced him. He could change his mind, can't he?

I really like Boulware but if there is a spot to free up it would be his. We have security guards, honor guards, we got the national guard, we got right guards and left guards. We got plenty of damn guards.

True. But if had to pick one to lose it would be stewert not Boulware that's jmo though.

What the heck is Richmond thinking?
Ole miss only has 5 other 4 star or better recruits in their current class.
He is not surrounding himself with any talent.
He and ole miss will fall into obscurity if he stays there.
Don't be crazy drew!
jump on the tennessee train and play for some championships!

negative recruiting to some positive to others

That's the most accurate portrayal of what happened. I'm sure the staff knows whether this happened or not and if so then I understand them not recruiting him further BUT I have a problem with passing this off as fact when it was some caller on a radio show that started this rumor. In any case I think it's unlikely that Drew ends up at UT. Bama may make a late push.

It happened. There are some very well connected people who have made mention of that as well.

I have written DR off a long time ago. I will be shocked if he becomes a VFL and I think it is quite possible he may be overrated. From all reports he has not performed all that well at camps or the all star game he was in. I think he has massive potential to play well as a Jr. or Sr. in college. I wish the young man well as he attends OM or UA. I think Allen is still considering the Vols and we have at least a 45% chance of getting him at this point. Give me CBJ and staff with a 45% chance all day long.

I really think Richmond would not be a good fit for what we have going on right now. I could see him being a negative attitude and Butch doesn't need that at this point. These kids are believers which will lead to championships. He swore his heart to Ole Miss now go live it.

Meh, if the kid recruited for Ole Miss while he was here then piss on him. But that said we've had a lot of people who weren't "believers" that turned around and became great players for us. Jashon Robertson's heart belonged to Vandy at one time and that worked out well for us and him when he flipped. All that said I'm sure the staff has a more accurate picture of what this kid is about and I'm sure they will only bring him in if he fits into the team concept Butch has.

IMHO, it those are the terms for his visit, then he shouldn't visit.

No offense, but that makes no sense to me. If staff tells him he can visit but that it will be when no other recruits are on campus, and he still wants to come, you would have to assume he still has an interest in UT. And with our needs at OT, I seriously doubt our staff would say no to a highly rated OT who is interested.

While we certainly need depth and talent at tackle, we're finally in a position where we don't "have" to take anybody. Any recruit that puts themselves on a higher pedestal than the team can find another home imo. People that come to campus on UT's dime to try and pull recruits for some other roach coach school like Ole Piss can watch us return to beasts of the east from the visitor's side. I'm not convinced that either of those Mississippi schools are a good investment for anybody's future. They both feel like flashes in the pan , much like Vandy was with Franklin.

The Richmond recruiting others to Ole Miss on his UT visit is legit. The staff has not pursued Richmond in a long time for the very reasons mentioned. That ship has sailed IMO.

Seems like I recall an OSU commit making a visit at tthe same time as Vonn Bell and the samething taking place, looks like they would learn....just sayin.

Richmond has dropped all the way down to the #9 prospect in TN on 247? Just noticed he's down to a 92 overall now. I remember when he was a 96 and then a 94. Interesting.

There is still mutual interest I would think. And I don't think he even had Ole Miss commit on his twitter bio. He just had UA all American commit. He's a hard read. Haven't heard but has he set up an official visit? Is Bama coming in late? Do we even want him now that Allen is potentially committing to us? Still many Q's heading up to signing day. Will be interesting

IMHO, IF you have to let him visit only when he can't be around other recruits because you're afraid he would try and recruit them away from UT to another school, what does that tell you? If you honestly don't think it's an issue then bring him on. But that wasn't the the situation being debated.
