"... but players can continue to wear the number under the school's new policy for this honor.
Tennessee is allowing current and future players to wear retired numbers of anyone who gets his jersey retired from this point on. Majors is the first honoree to whom this policy applies. Sophomore linebacker A.J. Johnson currently wears No. 45 for Tennessee.
Tennessee's previous seven retired jerseys will remain out of circulation unless an honoree allows his number to be worn by someone else. If the honoree has died, his family would need to grant permission..."
Chances the family of Reggie White lets Khalil or Jalen McKenzie wear the '92'?
I believe AJ already had the number before they retired it. He got to finish out his career then no more 45. JMO:hi: Just seen previous Page.Go to UT Sports website. Number 45 was retired in a ceremony in 2012 just like Peytons number 16 was retired in 2005. Majors can release it to JRM if he wants to just like he let AJ continue to wear it
Best LB we've brought in since AJ.... And yes that includes Bates. I think DK has tremendous upside. Reads and reacts well, which is #1 priority for an inside backer.
Good tackler and I like his sideline to sideline speed. He brings a lot to the table. In Jancek's defense, AJ has a lot of responsibilities. I think DK can handle it and show out in this defense.
It's huge that he's moved in and is an official EE tomorrow. No looking over our shoulder towards UM and Prince Harbaugh....Kirkland is a done deal. This kid is special and he's going to get to show his stuff very early.
