I would agree considering the responses in this thread.

Fair enough, just seems to me like when our fans chant that we tend to blend in with everyone else. Ive heard many other fan bases chant the same thing.

A joke? Listening to "Doc Holiday" while buzzing does nothing for you?

well as i stated in other threads, (i get to drunk to make sense) this is one of those, ill regret this tomorrow/today and ill pay for it.

The best thing about "It's Great to be" is that it gets easily fired up by just a few drunk fans in small groups all about the stadium as it empties. At the tailgate parties too.

It's not like a new one has to replace It's Great. An alternate, if good, isn't a bad thing. Dickey added the Power T in the 1960s. Smokey in the 1950s. (SIAP)

The problem is, as fast as information is dispersed these days, if it's catchy and not unique to the program, it will be copied everywhere at the speed of light. Oklahoma had the alternating stadium section colors and then Tennessee owned it a couple of weeks later. TN or somebody had third down for what, a few weeks later is was everywhere. It's hard to come up with something from a Volunteer or a hound dog.

Good point. Surely the creative guys around these parts can come up with a truly Tennessee war cry.

I get what you're saying. That is not our chant. We didn't invent it, it's not exclusive to UT and after hearing "It's great to be a Florida Gator" so many times, it would not hurt my feelings one bit if we use something that was truly unique and ours.
I have no idea why people are saying it's our tradition, unless they feel that cheerleaders saying "go team" is also UT tradition.

Spot on. I personally think it's stupid, but slightly less worse than the stupid SEC chant. Love to have something else....

Kind of off topic, but at basketball I wouldn't mind if the "SUCKS" after each opposing player is introduced go away.

The whole purpose of holding up the newspaper is to say "I'm ignoring you!" By saying "sucks" it defeats the whole purpose!
Come on man!

This isn't hockey bud

I watch a good bit of soccer and love hearing the fans singing during the matches. I think if people stuck around and sang along with the Pride of the Southland Band playing "The Tennessee Waltz" it would be pretty cool. Jmo
