Knoxville Restaurants

The wife and I made our first trip to the Stock and Barrel at Market Square. One word describes it, FANTASTIC.

We each had THE ‘MERICAN Burger. This may have been the best burger I have ever had. Definitely one of the best. It is way better than Litton's, IMO.

Litton's is garbage. Over-rated garbage.

I had the hand cut fries that are served with the burger. They were very good.

I take it next trip I need to try the duck confit fries?

I had planned on trying the crispy'shrooms next trip.

Yes. And either the bison burger or the one with the fried green tomato and Benton's bacon.

So I'm getting my yearly date night in Knoxville with the wife while my mom keeps the kids. Looking for recommendations for a good local restaurant to try next week that isn't one of the regular places. Probably needs steak/fish for her but I'm game for just about anything

You appear to hold some deep-seeded hatred towards Litton's. I won't ask about your childhood.

I agree that it is criminally overrated, but it's far from garbage. Their bakery is legit.

When I got in trouble for swearing as a child and washing my mouth out with soap didn't do the trick, my parents made me eat a burger from Littons. I've never said a curse word since and to this day I still hate my parents.

Echo, Seasons, Bistro by the Tracks (my wife's favorite atmosphere - prob a little more "upscale"), Cru. Conners and Lakeside would be my next choices, but not as original.

I believe I attempted to warn the entire forum about this restaurant. I'd still love to hear some details even though I've been there once myself and was displeased. Do tell! :)

We had a party of 6. Four of us had never been there. We ordered a bit of everything to try.

Wings - edible.
Onion straws - Meh. Came with a puddle of oil at the bottom of the basket.
French Onion soup - should I bother? It's Carolina Ale House.
Fish and Chips - lame size portion. Tasted ok, but the puddle of oil at the bottom of the plate was a bit disheartening.
Burger - I didn't try that, but consensus was good, but nothing you couldn't get at any other chain.
Ribs - lol
Pizza - I enjoy thin crust. It wasn't terrible, but you'd have to order two since they're small, and that'd set you back almost $20. Not worth it.
Service - I don't expect much with a brand new restaurant. My expectations were met.

Hoping to get some other input but I'll keep that in my back pocket. Likely looking a bit more upscale or original

it's definitely original, there's only 2 of them

It does have a good menu, that I'm sure you and your wife would find something you like, and the beer is good, most of it brewed on site

Of course, if you are only going to go out once a year, you might as well go big and hit Foothills Milling Co. We have enjoyed some great meals at the Orangery, as well, with excellent musical accompaniment (acoustic guitar, piano) if you hit the right night.

One more consideration: the Grill at Highlands Row. HOME - The Grill at Highlands Row | The Grill at Highlands Row Just went for the first time about a month ago and thoroughly enjoyed it.
